Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one at his Februmergency Tasting.
Slightly hazy gold body with a minimal off-white head.
Floral hop aroma with a good underlying malt base.
Well balanced with a nice bitter finish. Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - FEB 7, 2009
Bottle at decaturstevo’s Februmergency Tasting for those of us that missed out on Sexual Chocolate ’09 thanks to decaturstevo. Hazy orange pour with wispy off-white head. Lovely soft floral pine hop aroma with some vanilla. Very pleasant floral hop flavor with some small amount of bitterness. Very good actually. 12 oz bottle: Pours a amber color with a nice head. Aroma of strong citrus notes and just the right amount of hops. Goes down very smoothly with almost no hoppy bite. A little thin for my taste. Very nice lacing though. The "Double IPA" tag is a little misleading, but an okay drink from Nattys. MaltOMeal (1094) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - JAN 25, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2009 12oz bottle thanks to jrob21. Pours a cloudy amber with a thin, off-white head. Nose is very powerful citrus. Taste was same as smell. Mouthfeel was medium-thin with a strong, mouth tingle from the hops and a very bitter finish. Out of balance in a hop-forward way, but that’s ok for this hop-head. Loved it. Draft at the brewpub. Nice hoppy, fruit forward nose, though quite muted. I really wasn’t a big fan of this guy. It was plenty smooth, but the flavors weren’t all that well balanced. Not my favorite IIPA.

on tap at Natty Greenes Pub. average white frothy head into a cloudy orange. good lacing. aromas of citrus hops (less grapefruit and more lemonlike?) flavor was strong bitter. moderate tp thick mouthfeel and long finish duration. overall a good imp ipa. ross (2146) - weddington, North Carolina, USA - MAR 3, 2008
This one is a beer that I have wanted to drink for a long time, finally I had that chance. Pours out a dark red color with an off white head on it. Aroma on this one is full of hops, grass, pine, and some sweet sugars. No alcohol present. Taste is smooth and actually not too hoppy but more easy drinking. This could be classified as a regular IPA, as it needs a bit more oomph to be a double. Still, it is good, and probably one of the best beers at the bar. It was really fresh tasting as well. Growler from brewpub. Good aroma, when cold ot had alot going on, mellowed as it warmed. Citrus, pine. Grapefruit, orange, apricot, peach in a minor way, honey, toasted grain, tad cereal. A little hazed brownish orange color, good head that faded quickly, ok lacing. Bitter flavor, grapefruit takes over though the other flavors are present that I mentioned in aroma. Medium body, oily creamy mouthfeel, bitter, little harsh. The aroma had a lot going on, I liked how it gave me multiple scents. Turned into a familiar IIPA as far as taste and mouthfeel. I had left a glassful in the growler for a week and it held up well. jrob21 (3662) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 7, 2007
Mmmm on tap at the brewery. Poured cloudy orange with a respectable off-white head. The grapefruit aroma was wafting across the bar from this baby. Slightly sweet with big hop bitterness and flavor. That grapefruit bitter bit on the back end as well. Be ready for this one because the aromas and tastes are powerful but pretty one sided. Really good, smooth drink otherwise. elmatador00 (519) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 26, 2007
Brewer gave small sample, not on tap yet. Poured a neon reddish orange. Simcoe hops were defientley present. Smooth throughout, no overwhelming hop usage. Hints of sweet orange and lemon. Malt and Hop were balanced well. Finished light and a little bitter.
