bottle courtesy of emacgee, thank you. pours a deep but crisp amber with a dense and creamy off white head that leaves some lacing and spotting. the aroma and taste have a ton of sweet biscuity crystaly malts, very malty iipa, but i really like it since its a great malt profile. its still highly hopped, and the hop profile is equally as balanced. overall a nice brew, very drinkable, though more like an asa to me. mreusch (851) - Olathe, Kansas, USA - JAN 1, 2010
12oz. bottle, with thanks to brentk56 for the great bonus. Pours a clear golden orange with a huge and lasting off-white head that leaves big chunks of lace. Aroma is floral, citrus and peel, a little pine and light caramel. Flavor is juicy, with a nice blend of floral, crisp fresh citrus and caramel. Drinks more like an IPA than a Double; good stuff either way. Thanks again Brent! HOPSHUNTER (742) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 12, 2009
Bottle at Tampa tasting, thanks jdubFL I think. Poured a slightly hazy copper color with a thin off-white head. Nose is full of pine, grass, citrus. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. This one has a solid caramel foundation with a good amount of unbalanced hops bitterness, yum. Finishes bitter with a lingering citrus note. Very nice. Draft at the brewpub. Nice hoppy, fruit forward nose, though quite muted. I really wasn’t a big fan of this guy. It was plenty smooth, but the flavors weren’t all that well balanced. Not my favorite IIPA. brewski519 (644) - Morrisville, North Carolina, USA - JAN 4, 2011
12 oz bottle purchased at City Beverage in Winston-Salem. Pours a dark golden color with some reddish tinge and an off white head on it. Aroma on this one is full of hops, grass, and pine. Taste is piney, citrusy and quite hoppy but pretty smooth - easy drinking.

On tap at the brewpub, pours a hazy amber with a thin head and nice lacing. Smells of cherries and malts, and tastes the same. Thick on the palate, I like this one. elmatador00 (519) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 26, 2007
Brewer gave small sample, not on tap yet. Poured a neon reddish orange. Simcoe hops were defientley present. Smooth throughout, no overwhelming hop usage. Hints of sweet orange and lemon. Malt and Hop were balanced well. Finished light and a little bitter. mhelgason (495) - Salem, Oregon, USA - MAR 10, 2008
on tap at Natty Greenes Pub. average white frothy head into a cloudy orange. good lacing. aromas of citrus hops (less grapefruit and more lemonlike?) flavor was strong bitter. moderate tp thick mouthfeel and long finish duration. overall a good imp ipa. From tap at Brewery. Wow! The last beer I had at the brewery and the best. Amber with a haze and sticky head. Aroma was malt and fruity hops. Taste was caramel, bread, fruity hops and bitter finish. The ABV was hidden well. TheOrange (479) - Kent, Ohio, USA - JUN 6, 2009
Left over from a Christmas trip down to North Carolina. Aroma is very light, neither hops nor malts terrible strong, some floral and citrus notes. Pours a deep orange hued brown, with a good tan frothy head. The flavor is mild pine, and citrus, the hops and malts are very well balanced. Not to carbonated... A very good beer.
