Bottle #1 of 230 shared with Jcwattsrugger. Pours dark red. Tan head. Nose/taste of tart red fruits, oak, minor buttery notes and cherry finish. Taste is very acidic - lots of cherry vinegar in the finish. Medium body.

Bottle shared by Andrew at the Foothills Sexual Chocolate pre-release party. Pours a light burgundy. Nice flanders style representation. A bit heavier on caramel malt than other flanders reds that gives the body a little sticky sweetness. Moderate balsamic notes. Moderately acidic. All in all, a solid sour that would be the type I’d use to introduce someone to the style.

750ml shared by SincereNC - thanks, Ian! Pours like a well-aged brune, with a thin crisp layer of bubbles atop a medium brown body. Looks slightly oily, not much heft to it. Acetic vinegar funk aroma, with a faint but lasting oaky note. Body is medium, a bit too puckering on the finish maybe. Taste is well-rendered, even if a bit too sweet at the end (I problem I’ve had with some bottles of Duchesse). Could probably benefit from some age, but I found it enjoyable as is.

Several samples enjoyed at Pre-Sex. Faint oak and tartness in the nose, dry to complement the fizz. Medium amber color, could be midway between a cider and a lambic to look at it. Vibrant flavors, cherry isn’t overwhelmingly sour, just well integrated and balanced, with oak and mild lactic quality bringing up the rear. Bottle this!

22oz bottle #1/230 shared by jtclockwork, thanks-pours a tan head that slowly foams over after opening and copper color. Aroma is vinuous/acidic, medium malt, tart/barn. Taste is vinuous, medium malt-caramel, medium fruit-raspberry, wood. Finish is acidic/vinegar, which didn’t work for me, but front and mid-palate are quite enjoyable.

Bottle at RBWG, thanks Beau! Love how my man from OH brought all the NC sours. I thought I had tried all the Natty Greenes’ sours but I’m glad to see that I had yet to have this one as it may be the best one yet. The others have all been boozy, oak, questionable sours and while this one definitely still needs some work, it’s got more tart, vinous, funky quality than any of the previous incarnations. Light tart cherry fruit, oak, dusty finish.

Bottle shared by SincereNC. Thanks for picking this up, Ian! Purty good effort from those dudes down in Greensboro, NC. A little high on the acetic side, but this seems to be the case in many American sours. Definitely a step in the right direction though. Keep working on it, yall.

Dark amber pour with a medium tan head and lots of lacing. Aroma has lactic sourness. Flavor is that of granny smith apple juice or hard cider, with medium carbonation and some vinegar. Complex yet missing something.

Sampled at Hickory Hops 2014. Lots of cherry and balsamic vinegar in this one, both in the smell and taste. Some woody flavors, too. Maybe some red wine, as well. Pretty good...

Huhzubendah (3709) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 16, 2016
Clear mahogany body with a soapy beige cap. Aromas of oak, cherry, vanilla, funk. The flavor is a notch below the aroma. Light body. Mild sweetness. Brown bread and cherry character. Mild tartness with moderate funk character.
