From tap at the brewpub (on tap as Dunkles). Pours brown with a white lacing head. Caramel and light roasted malt aroma, slight butterish. Sweet flavour, a bit like toffee. Has clear malt notes and caramel in a sweet blend. Finish is soft and slight breadish, but sweet. Not bad, but just too sweet to be great. Shows some great lacework on the glass, I couldn’t finish it so I don’t know how it compares to the helles. omhper (25119) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - OCT 5, 2003

Orange brown, hazy. Medium bodied. Toasty and appley. Rather sweet with rounded soft mouthfeel. Some salty hops in the finish. Excessive apple and cellar flavour makes me think of old Soviet style lagers.

Hazy amber color, nice head. Some malt, caramel and hops aroma. Very good flavor, malt, sweetness, caramel, and a good aromatic hopping. If just all the Dunkel were like this one…
Milder herb-würziger Beginn. Geringe Malzigkeit, trocken, ein wenig bitter. Trocken hell würzig, keine wirkliche Tiefe. Zum Ende deutlich herber. Okay. 10/7/8/7//7 faroeviking (10913) - FAROE ISLANDS - MAR 9, 2009
Draught as Dunkles. Unclear deep amber colour with a creamy beige ehad. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel/toffee. Good mouthfeel. Flavour of well toasted caramel and malt with a nice bitterness. Sweet caramel toasty malty finish.

Tap at the brewpub. Light aroma. Cloudy brown, lacing off-white head.
Good roast start, nice fruity notes quite Bavarian balance with grassy and light earthy hops. great chewy body miles away from the standard Spanish fare. Refreshing and pleasant. Gets the location bonus as well. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 11, 2007
On tap at Naturbier. Poured a deeper reddish-brown with a short, creamy beige head. Sweet toasted caramel along with.. well.. not much else in the aroma.. perhaps a touch of lighter fruits peeked through. The flavor had a bit more going on than the aroma indicated.. toasty caramel and some darker fruits at the base with a mild herbal bitterness.. OK. Lighter-bodied on the palate and very dry.. somewhat sweet.. short, toasty finish. caesar (7153) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 28, 2005
Clear copper color, short but lasting head. Sweet malty aroma, some caramel. Sweet taste, caramel malty, bitter. Bit sticky palate. Not very complex, but ok. Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Draft at the brewpub. Opaque reddish-brown, almost nutty. Drinks with an alcoholish bite. Not very even keeled. Milky finish. (#4835, 11/2012) Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 6, 2007
