9th June 2017: half-pint in my local Wetherspoons. Dark brown body, weak tanned topping. Bramble fruits on the nose and in the taste with a little chocolate in the finish. theprof (1079) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 30, 2017
Cask. Modestly toffee nosed. Pours dark chestnut with lasting tan top. Taste is medium sweet malts with medium body and a soft finish. There is some languor but no surprises. The sweetness dims to sour. Once this type of beer sufficed but increasingly expectations rise, except perhaps among the lager drinkers who meander from Carling to Kronenbourg with the excitement of Tuborg and Carlsberg to divert them. And some of them vote with similar discernment (forgive the sour grapes). mR_fr0g (12916) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2017

Handpull cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark brown, translucent. A tempting cream-coloured head on top. Light aroma, some smoky plum and a touch of liquer chocolate. Sweet, plummy taste. Ambrosial. Silky palate, the beer is aptly named. Nothing too crazy about this little number, but it’s a tasty by the book mild.
