2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
375ml bottle. Pours a clear medium gold, with a smallish white head, which does not last well, but does leave some lace. The aroma has some grainy malt and floral and spice hops. There are some floral hops up front, followed by grainy malt and some white bread. There are some mild spice hops in a dry finish. By no means excellent, but a cut above the other Tanzanian lagers I have sampled (a very minimal compliment).
Actually better Tanzanian one.
Quite close to euro beers, malty line is significant and it also has malty finish. But most of all it misses the corn line. Hamirubi (591) - Waarschoot, BELGIUM - JAN 18, 2017
Sample from a 37.5cl bottle at home (18 I 2017), a bottle passed on to be by beer friend Alengrin, but surely coming from the beer cellar of tderoeck: Thanks guys! This Tanzanian beer label with majestic elephant logo and show-off "premium lager" disinformation will be a nice addition to my collection. This brew actually was bottled in May 2014, and being not a life-long lager, I actually savoured it when it was overdue. This might have caused for some more dirt and oxydated taste sensation. The look is quite alright, with an amber to even orange body, rather pale - apart from that slightly haze backbone - and not that vividly. The collar is swiftly diminishing. This lager was extra matured with crystal malt, granting a caramel touch to the corn fashion. This is a highly industrial aromatization, adding a certain sweetness to the brew - an easy way to do it, too, and often not that tasteful. The nose already has some unappealing straw, dirt and dust sensations. The taste is likewise, although the almost mint mouthfeel has a silky touch and the ending is soft and not annoying. There are some bitter-ish notes in this soft-carbon finish with sweet and herbs tones. An industrial-style, modest and standard pale lager with sweet toffee and bitter character: not that shabby. It is an advertised "special malt" after all. Alengrin (5535) - BELGIUM - AUG 26, 2016
Bottle from a trade with tderoeck, shared with the RB crew at Gents Bierfestival. Tanzania’s Premium Lager (I had no idea they even had one but I guess it makes sense to be able to offer ’a beer’ to tourists), thanks Tim for the country tick! Moussy, irregular, bubbly yet stable, snow white head, ’old gold’ colour with greenish hue, strangely a bit hazy - unusual for a standard pale lager from an industrial brewery. Aroma of damp kitchen towels, soaked corn, wet paper, rotting grass, raw potato (starch-like effect which must be related to the haziness). Neutral onset, grainy with a corn-like ’bland’ sweetishness as can be expected from the style, sourish graininess underneath, very spritzy carbo, thin and slightly oily mouthfeel, metallic, some herbal and grassy hop bitterishness in the end - which I guess makes it ’premium’. This has all the properties of a bland, industrial ’macro lager’ but admittedly I had worse especially from Africa (no offense). tderoeck (10002) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 25, 2016
20/VIII/16 - 33cl bottle from a colleague traded with Alengrin @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: 18/IX/14 (2016-896) Thanks to Alengrin for sharing the bottle!77ships (10432) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 21, 2016
Clear orange to blond beer, big creamy white irregular head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, cow fodder, sugary, weird, bit oxidized. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, oxidized, marzipan. Aftertaste: grains, malty.
Thank you for sharing Alengrin! Sampled 330 ml. green bottle @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. 2014 Vintage. Apparently my second beer from this brewery. Hazy orange, little white . nose is old stale grain corn, unpleasant,… taste is sweet cereal candy, unpleasantly sweet, corn, paper, cereal, spoiled cereal,… Thicker than usual for a pale lager of this kind. Quite poor but there is worse.

Hazy yellow, big creamy white head. Smell of light malts, hay, some dust and spices. Light sweet, clean and crisp. Light malts and spices with a nice dry mouthfeel. Moderate bitter, green grass tail. Surprisingly good, i had no expectations
Helt almindelig pilsner som de nok er i Afrika. Ikke noget specielt men nok god i varmen. McWorta (1633) - LUXEMBOURG - NOV 6, 2015
Golden with a pillowy white mostly lasting head. Aromas of cereal, pale malt, hay, herbal and faintly grassy with a starting note of DMS develop. Soft carbonation, thin yet somewhat smooth texture offering a light-medium body. Malty herbal sweetness offering a touch of herbal bitterness with a medium lasting finish.
