COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black as night and every bit Imperial, this RIS was originally launched to tremendous accolades. Going further, this Stranahans Whiskey barrel aged version meshes the rich chocolates, the coffee-like aromatics with the sweet whiskey nose and drying character of the oak. Slightly behind on the palette are the hops held in restraint by the wonderfully full mouthfeel and broad flavors brought on by the perfect blend of so many malted barley varieties.

75cl bottle. I get the whisky but its not good and is all harsh with no sweet or fruity/vanilla. A little paint thinner and chocolate in the aroma. Dry and boozy with a burning finish. Oy. This is... interesting. Sorry guys, if I wanted a shot of whisky Id take it.

pitch black color. Big vanilla bean, dark chocolate molasses, oak and bourbon in the nose. Full on. Tons of dark chocolate, treacles, bourbon, oak, slightly sour mouth. So well integrated and put together. Fantastic lingering dark chocolate oak and bourbon finish.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Whiskey, oak, chocolate, vanilla, and coffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied and thick. Finishes with whiskey and plenty of chocolate notes.

Pours a deep brownish black from the bomber with thin ring of tan brown head that leaves light lace. Aroma of woody tannins, dark chocolate, deep roast, and a hint of soy. Taste follows, drop the soy and add some sweet chocolate and vanilla, earthy middle. Booze is well hidden, thick and viscous, solid beer.

Black pour with a tan colored, single finger head. Lace present. Aroma is full of oak and whiskey, along with some vanilla, leather and tobacco. On the lighter side in terms of body. Taste has some chocolate notes, whiskey and bitter dark malts. Dry finish. This is good, but the mouth is awfully thin. Its got it all except for the body.

Half growler. Opaque brown-black with a ring and smattering of bubbles. Nose is caramel, char, milk chocolate and hints of soy and tobacco. Flavors of milk chocolate, barrel, whiskey and caramel. Medium body is a bit thin and hot with booze, but has a drinkable balance and a smooth, medium carbonation.

Bottle: Pours black with a small, dark tan head. Whiskey, wood, chocolate aroma. Ashy bitter....dark chocolate, coffee ground flavour. Great balanced alcohol warmth...drinks very smoothly....huge fudge notes as it warms.

Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Smells strongly of chocolate and some dark fruit notes. Taste is sweet, chocolate, and hints of fruit. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Nebraska Black Betty finishes with a subtle booziness.

Draft at Mekong. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Fairly roasty on the nose with lots of Hop notes. Thick and viscous on the tongue with lots of hop flavor. Has some solid bitterness on the finish to keep things clean. Solid example of style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
