COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our first beer produced in the Reserve Series, Melange A Trois begins with a wonderfully big Strong Belgian-Style Blonde Ale and moves into the extraordinary category through an additional 6 month French Oak Chardonnay Wine Barrel maturation. The essence of Chardonnay permeates while a subtle sweetness remains from the Ale itself. Oak tannins combine to create a fascinating mesh of dry, sweet, and wine-like character. One of our favorites!

Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with a large foamy white head that slowly dissispates with decent lacing. Aroma is yeasty, fruity and malty with notes of white grape and orange peel. Flavor is about the same, quite sweet with some citric astringency. Not bad at all. ABV is well hidden throughout.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden / blond with a medium white head. Aroma of biscuits, white wine, brett, and oak. Flavour begins with lychee-like light fruits, transitioning to the chardonnay white wine, and then some yeast notes on the finish. The ABV is well-concealed at first, though burns at the end the more you drink. Not my idea of the best white wine incorporated BA beer. Quite thin, boozy and very carbonated. Still, solid stuff.

Bottle, 08/21/2012. Pours hazy orange, cider-like, dense thin head, curtains of lace. Aroma of pineapple, pear, apple, light spices and herbs, oak and chardonnay notes. Taste has big chardonnay quality, apple and mild sweet malts, spices, dry bitter finish with a touch of heat. Medium body. Nicely done.

In short: A Belgian blond ale with a very strong woody white-wine character cider notes. Interesting even if not really my thing
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed approximately one year after purchase
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a small white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass. Last glass of the bottle was cloudy
In long: Nose has plenty of woody white wine with notes of apples. Here you don’t simply smell Chardonnay Wine Barrels, the beer downright smells like a very oaky glass of white wine. Taste is a little pure white-wine than the nose hinted on. Lots of oak, medium tannic, some dry white-wine, lots of apples and apple skin (dry cider sensation), a woody spiciness. Overall I thought this beer had a little too much chardonnay and cider flavors to it. For many this beer can be a exquisite treat, but for someone like me who doesn’t like white-wine to start with, this beer was not all that good. I may regret buying this beer but don’t ask me if I’m bitter, because I’m not, or maybe I am, I don’t know, I’ve never tasted myself, you’re a freak.

Bottle shared by Darrell. Hooray beer! The beer appearsa hazy golden yellow hue with a quarter inch of white head. The aroma offers citrus, wine barrels, white grapes, floral notes. The flavor brings grapes and white wine. The oak character is there, but light. Alcohol content is disguised very well. hard to believe this is 10% abv, other than just the slightest warming sensation in the finish. Overall, a really solid beer.

750mL thanks to Travlr! Pours a full haze pineapple juice. Thicker, rocky, bright white head. Sheety and webby lacing. Nose is thick sugar, dough, yellow apple, some playdough, white liquor. Taste is thick sugar, yellow cake, very sweet. Finish is a bit cloying, big yellow cake sugar with lemon filling. Sweeeet as hell.
