Sweet grain nose, plenty of white wine, a bit of oak, some light lemon and tiny hint of wet grass. Creamy medium body with moderate carb. 750ml bottle shared by Chris D. Poured a clear bright sunlight yellow gold with a smaller to average sized bright white head. Aroma of spice, bubble gum, pepper, rotting citrus, odd fruit. Poured from a bottle. Hazy straw color, medium frothy white head. Nice sweet all spice aroma. Medium body with a nice sweet flavor and a medium finish.

Half a year of chardonnay barrel aging has given has given Melange a Trois a vinous and slightly earthy note. Yeast notes are bright with fruit esters and bread sweetness. Flavors have some spice and a hint of tropical hops. This would be a lovely Belgian Ale for a meal. It’s big enough and complex enough to stand up to rich dishes and compliment bold flavors. Or, in the true spirit of the Melange a Trois, perhaps this beer would be best enjoyed in the post-coital afterglow with two attractive companions. 19 Jan 2016, bottle. hazy yellow. nose is faintly tart, some lemon rind, sweet, floral. thin/med body and mildly fizzy. belgian ale yeast and alcohol but not too big. sweet, earthy, some yeast. can’t say i notice much of the barrel aging but perhaps that is what tames this from the typical big alcohol in the belgian strong ale. nice.
