Our first beer produced in the Reserve Series, Melange A Trois begins with a wonderfully big Strong Belgian-Style Blonde Ale and moves into the extraordinary category through an additional 6 month French Oak Chardonnay Wine Barrel maturation. The essence of Chardonnay permeates while a subtle sweetness remains from the Ale itself. Oak tannins combine to create a fascinating mesh of dry, sweet, and wine-like character. One of our favorites!

Great beer! Beautiful golden color with a nice head of light effervescent bubbles. Wonderful wood flavor from the barrel while not overpowering the flavor of the base golden ale. White wine dances on the tounge with lemon. Definitely need to get another bottle of this soon.

750 ml bottle
This has been hanging around in the cellar for too long so when I finally got a chance to split it with b3shine and tastybeer I was more than happy to do so. Nebraska Brewing has not been disappointing in the past and this was no exception. A world class barrel aged release should be picked up the next time it hits shelves.

Aroma / Appearance - A golden base is glowing with warmth. The stark white head gives it a light look for a 10% ABV Belgian. White fresh Chardonnay, malt, citrus glaze, and lemon cheesecake fill the air with a dessert course.

Flavor / Palate - A chewy boozy mouthfeel is thick with texture. The warmth of white wine slides across the tongue. More like a high quality wine than a Belgian ale it is very drinkable from start to finish. I wish I had another bottle or could get one easily.

On tap at Misconduct Tavern in Philly. Pours a hazy light mahogany with a tall but quickly dissipating cream khaki head. Velvety lacing. Aromas of candy apple, caramel, lemon zest and toasted malt. The oak barrel finish is apparent right away with a rich but dry vanilla punch followed by ripe summer fruits, molasses, bittersweet chocolate, white pepper, and marshmallow. Full, silky mouthfeel and a very long, sweet yet mildly astringent finish. My first from Nebraska Brewing. I didn’t love it but still look forward to some more from them.

The beers pours great with a nice hazy golden straw color, a great white frauthy head and outstanding lacing on the glass (all the way through me drinking it). The beer smell outstanding with a great blend of citrus hops, banana, clove, and a somewhat buttery scent as typical with chardonnay. The taste is outstanding as you instantly get the great blend of the cirtus, hops, banana, and oakey flavors. It follows into a nice banana, clove aftertaste that just hangs around forever. The mouthfeel is very well carbonated, somewhat bitter from the chardonnay and hoppy flavors. Overall, WOW. I dont think any beer is a perfect 5 but this beer has come about as close as any that I have ever had. Now I got to get me some more. Outstanding.

Bottle, courtesy Brigadier, thanks! Hazy gold pour, white head. Aroma of buttery Chardonnay, apple, oak, fruity ester. Taste is sweet, buttery Chardonnay, fruity ester, barrel, gold apple. Palate is soft, slick, sweet finish.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by Brigadier). Looks good; a semi-transparent golden orange with white head. Smells good too; Chardonnay, oak, and Belgian yeast. Tastes like it smells with a fairly sweet backbone. Nice and smooth on the palate. Good beer, and doesn’t drink anywhere near the abv.

750 ml bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting off white head. Aromas of straw, white wine, vanilla, oak and light citrus. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, white wine, oak, light vanilla and light citrus with a crisp dry lingering white wine finish.

Westmeister (2129) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - AUG 29, 2013
Bottle shared. Taste was bits of white wine, some soft fruits, sweet creamy maltiness, and a slightly bit tart, floral, oak. Very complex in that I could not figure out all what was going on. Chardonnay was probably the front runner of the flavor though. This was actually a detriment to the beer as I, for one of the first times ever, though a beer was a bit much and somewhat brash. Good, but probably not worth the crazy price tag that it demanded.

750 ml bottle shared by?? Pours a hazy golden amber color with a large white head. The aroma and flavor have some sweet malts, vanilla, oak, vinous/Chardonnay character, yeast, mild tart with a light herbal note. The finish is dry with some additional fruit character. Interesting, would like to revisit.
