Brown in color with an off-white head. Some toasted malt, a little bit of roast, and a hint of coffee. There’s a bit of earth, mild fruit, and some slight grassiness. Sweet toffee on the palate with roasted malt, toast, and hints of chocolate and coffee. There is some earthy hops, a light bitterness, fruitiness on the finish. bhensonb (15758) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 30, 2010
Tap at the Natomas location. Pours brown with a creamy off-white head. Slight roast malt aroma. Med body/mild carb. It’s rather fruity with "brown" roasted malt, and there’s enough bitter to offset the sugar. djd07 (15544) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 17, 2015

Musty, malty aroma of an American Brown Ale - maybe a bit light. Dark reddish copper color with a substantial beige head. Starts a bit sweet, followed by a leafy, dusty vegy taste. Don’t think there is any hop. All weed. Actually a bit ongoing sweet in the finish. Sort of coats the tongue. It is what it is.
On tap at Hopjacks. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is spruce and floral. Thin mouth, light bready malt and toast, decent. Ratman197 (15364) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - NOV 23, 2011

Bottle. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt and soft hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium roasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft brew. Red copper ale with a nice thin off-white head. Nutty malt aroam with hemp oil coming out. Malty nutty ale with some harshness in mouth, not pleasant. Russian River Beer Revival & Barbecue Cook-Off, August 20, 2005. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 9, 2002
Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: An ale, lightly hopped, nothing too special about it Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 29, 2010
Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Sampled 4/21/10. Pours a clear dark brownish red color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate and herbal notes. The taste is chocolate, herbal notes, brown malts and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied and smooth. Tasty beer. crossovert (13909) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2011
Spicy, mildly hoppy brown. I guess this recipe was inherited by FW and it isn’t one of their better beers.
