Sample at Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay. Pours a dark ruby-brown color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of caramel and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of caramel malt, cocoa and slight hops. The finish is short with an earthy malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. crossovert (12668) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2011
Spicy, mildly hoppy brown. I guess this recipe was inherited by FW and it isn’t one of their better beers. hopdog (12486) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 11, 2006
12oz bottle. Poured a deeper ruby red/brownish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, nuts, and a wet grassy/earthiness. Tastes of chocolate, nuts, and earthy. Thinner body. Didn’t really get a ’spice/herb/vegatable’ out of it. slowrunner77 (11930) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 30, 2014
"nice and malty up front, with peet and caramel malt, good body, although the aroma is lacking. the beer makes up for it with it’s solid malt backbone and hoppy finish. solid, with a small alcohol kick" hopscotch (11051) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 18, 2008
Bottle… Dark, clear crimson ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Decent retention. Subdued, malty nose provides subtle notes of chocolate, nuts and vanilla. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Well-balanced flavor offers traces of chocolate and nuts. Short, crisp, clean finish. Brown ale, I think.

Bottle shared by Ryan and Felicia...thanks! Pours an amber color. Aroma has tons of caramel malt, with some vegetal and spice notes and light hops. Flavor is malty and very light on the hops. I got high when I drank this...yeah not really. Peace dudes and dudettes. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

clear dark brown, short lived fine beige head still manages to leave a bit of lace, sweet nutty chocolate aroma with earthy hops, well balanced malt flavor with nice chocolate and mild bitterness, a typical brown ale
Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 5/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 10/20
Bottle. Deep brown pour that has a great ruby shade through light, and about 2 fingers of khaki head. Aroma is dark malt, brown sugar, hops, chocolate. Tastes rich, chocolatey malty, with some brown sugar and hop notes. This one comes off like a scwarzbier. adnielsen (10605) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2014 Blind tasting @ home. Hazy deep reddish orange appearance with a light brown head. Slightly oxidized / cardboard, burnt sugar / caramel / molasses, pear / apple nose. Moderately to highly sweet. Earthy / herbal bitterness. Chalky / dusty grainy. Dull mouth feel. Some acidity. Not all that great. BVery (10327) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 4, 2015
Bottle. Deep amber to brown pour. Small soapy white head. Aroma is malty, nutty, and slightly herbal. Medium palate, somewhat sweet to the taste.
