Small Head, a lot darker than what i was expecting. dark amber/brown. Nice refreshing feel. Good for warm day. I would say that it looks like it should taste a tiny bit stronger than it is but i really like the taste myself. I really enjoy this brew and will keep it on hand. Bottled. Pours a rich garnet color with an ivory head. Caramel, chocolate, malt, and some licorice aromas. Rather thick mouth feel. Dry, dusty malt character with a slight hop bitterness. More chocolate and some fruit notes as well. Koskela (505) - Marysville, California, USA - JUL 20, 2012
I smell a malty chocoately smell in this crystal clear dark red brew with a little bit of head. Its malty and slitly bitter a good combo. Has a touch of choc at the end with a bitter aftertaste. Not very too malty but there is sweetness in good moderation. Slightly full bodied a bit much for s red but crisp. A very good brew tho the body is a bit heavy but worth a buy and rebuy for sure. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2012
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark brown with a ruby hue. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel, toffee, dark fermented fruits and a little plum. Taste is light bitter. Coffee and caramel with some herbal hops and dark fruits. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. There is some sort of odd taste that I can’t quite place. The only thing I can think of would be the hemp seeds. Try it if you find it. ronaldtheriot (1965) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - MAR 13, 2014
Humboldt Hemp Ale (Humboldt Brown) has a very thick, soapy, beige head, a straightforward brown appearance, with a bit of haze and some lacing left behind. The aroma is of overriding sweetness, medium-roasted barley malt, and it’s pungent. Taste is of those elements, with a nice, noticeable, but not harsh, hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and a tad slick, and Humboldt Hemp Ale finishes mostly dry, refreshing, and easy going. No alcohol detected. Also, I did not detect anything that I would associate with the hemp seeds. RJT

(En fût à la brasserie de Buellton sous le nom de Taproom Brown): Riche mocha, purée de noisettes et raisins rouges. Quel corps! Taverner (1100) - San Ramon, California, USA - SEP 29, 2005
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2008 This is one of the best beer’s I’ve ever had. IT keeps things simple, but the hemp flavor in the hopping process rounds out the flavor, and evens out any sharp edges that pop up in dark ales.
ON SECOND ANALYSIS: It’s not bad. It’s just not as great as I thought before. The hemp does give it a nice, non-hoppy bitter edge, which improves complexity. But other than that, not much else stands out on this beer. burpfrank (299) - carpinteria, California, USA - JUN 28, 2006
THis had a good head.Aroma was robust of hops and malt,perhaps some barley,maybe it was the hemp.Color was a medium brown.Tasted full-bodied,with a bitter after taste.Good beer.will buy again.Why am I hungry all-of-a-suden?? NJBeerman013 (1054) - Hamilton Twp., New Jersey, USA - DEC 31, 2012
