Dark and not that fizzy. Bitter. No hemp taste - but I’m not sure I’d recognize it if there WAS a hemp taste. An ordinary, uneventful ale. nickd717 (4679) - San Francisco, California, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Tap at the Nut House in Palo Alto. Dark brown in color with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, hops/hemp, and a little roast. Flavor is earth, grass, hemp, hops, caramel and roasted malt. Medium body with somewhat low carbonation. Pretty average overall. Nik925 (795) - USA - OCT 21, 2009
Thinness...reminds of a dunkelwiezen . I know they would love a hemp reference in this one, but it just comes across as a dunkle. not bad, nor good. apparently I got a bottle before firestone bought them. Decent, but nothing special. RCL (2030) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 9, 2010
Hemp aroma is fairly pronounced, and comes out even more in the flavor. Some herbal hops add some complexity; finishes a wee bit astringent but not bad. hoppopotamus (260) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - APR 15, 2010
A dark brown pour with almost no head. Aroma is fruit and slightly roast malt. Flavor is dark fruits, like plum, prune, fig, with a bit of roasted malt in the background. Sweet. Could use some hops though.

Bottled. Poured a nice dark brown color with a big aroma of the caramel, brown ale features. The taste of a brown ale did not come through that much though. kind of tasted a little watered down. little to no hemp taste. dry finish.

The aroma is pretty average for a brown ale and maybe just a slight bit too clean and not sweet enough. It’s got toasted malt and a bit of caramel but it’s mostly a weak and bitter chocolate. The appearance is brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall a pretty good but forgettable brown ale that is not sweet or rich enough. paultheguru (644) - Parker, Colorado, USA - SEP 29, 2010
A: snifter. Pours a dark, rich brown slight ruby color with an off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. light lacing.
S: earthy malt aroma, some slight nutty characteristics.
T: Nutty, oily, and bitter taste with malt background. Finish is a little bit more mellow, but the flavors wears down after a while.
M: Light to medium body and rather oily and smooth, with little carbonation.
D: Not a bad beer, but a novelty item to say the least. The flavor tends to get old after a while. User37895 (3042) - - OCT 20, 2010
On draft. The pour was red average brown color, mediocre initial head, weak lacing. The aroma was nuts, caramel, chocolate, some berries. The flavor followed, chocolate, faint roast, nuts, caramel, and dark berries, which perhaps was the hemp? Seemed to make me dead tired, maybe something else caused that? Mouthfeel was full to a little undercarbonated, with slight malty sticky aspects. Just another average brown ale, imo. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - JAN 13, 2011
Bottle. Dark brown pour with slight white head. Slight earthy grassy, "herbal" aroma. Flavor is mildly earthy and spice flavor with some heavy caramel and toasted malt influence.
