Pours a deep dark ruby brown with a tan head. Taste is syrup drenched and toasted chocolate. Well balanced with a good palette. Not cloyingly sweet up front. Not too dark or sour towards the end. Very clean at the finish with almost no dark aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

ours a dark amber with about a finger of tan, rich, slowly dissipating head. Raisin notes in the nose. Soft mouthfeel with a sweet aftertaste. Some dark fruit and brown sugar is prominent. Actually better than I expected it to be.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2007 Another pick up from Firestone Bar. A simple, good drinking beer. Nothing special just a nice easily put drank brew. The smell was a bit weak. The best thing about this ale was the drinkability. The weakest thing was prob. the smell and look, very simple on both parts. I could easily put back a bunch of these.

A - Pours a fairly clear mahogany-brown color with a hinger of frothy off-white head. THe head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of caramel malts, nuttiness, with some brown sugar and roastiness, with a bit of floral hop. T - Starts off with a mix of sweet sweet caramel malts with some nuttiness and brown sugar. Through the middle, some floral hop comes through with some bitterness and some bready malt and a bit of roastiness. The finish is a mix of sweet caramel malts with some bready malts, floral hop, and a bit of brown sugar. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice malty brown ale. Good mix of flavors and balance.

This beer has a wonderfully complex yet smooth flavor. It pours a beautiful reddish brown. A great ale amongst a field of ales with little distinguishing characteristics. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled September 14, 2011. Old bottle gifted from a friend, cheers anyway!
Appearance: The body has a great garnet and brown color with a creamy tan head that fills up the last quarter of my glass the beer doesn’t fill. Retention is average but there’s a nice coating and some lacing.
Aroma: Some chocolate aromas, slightly dry nut aromas, and some sweet caramel. Nice aroma despite being so old.
Taste: Caramel and some cocoa mesh nicely with good balance, this drinks nicely even after a year.
Palate: Light to medium bodied with light carbonation.
Overall: Solid brown ale, in fact one of the better ones I’ve had. This is something I’ll look for fresher to re-evaluate.

appearance was a wonderful color with what I had expected in the head. Retention was a bit low. Wasn’t sure what to expect in mouthfeel and flavor. Hoping to taste the protein, minerals and such from the hemp.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/16/2013. Pours slightly cloudy deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, biscuit, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt and light hop/hemp notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and robustness of dark malt flavors with light hop/hemp presence; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice brown ale. Good balance and robustness of dark malt flavors and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

From a bottle. Pours clear ruby brown with a bubbly beige head. Tastes like bitter raisin, dry toast, molasses, also grassy and earthy. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells nutty, earthy, like dry toast and light alcohol.
