sweet, hoppy, dark and malty. good humboldt brew along with the red nectar.
Poured into a mug, the appearance was a sturdy dark brown color with a fingerís worth of a light tan foamy head. Dissipated fairly easy to leave some light lingering stringy lace.
The aroma had some roasted nuts, slight dark malts, some caramel/toffee qualities, light earthiness and some hay.
The flavor leaned towards a dry malty sweetness. Light bitterness came in for a decent balance. The aftertaste was somewhat malty and dry with a nice woody dry sort of finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt fine. Itís dry yet somewhat smooth.
Overalll, one of the drier brown ales on the market. Maybe again for me, not sure. Mep3222 (1542) - East Greenbush, New York, USA - APR 29, 2017
Nice carmelized malty brown ale with a bit of cocoa finish. Full flavored and balanced. Slight bitterness to the finish but overall malty and a bit sweet. Descent. ozzy70 (1132) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 10, 2017
12 oz. bottle. Pour dark brown, thin off white head. Aroma was sweet brown sugar, some roasted malt. Taste was mild sweet, light roasted malts, nutty, herbs. Andrew196 (1858) - Katy, Texas, USA - DEC 27, 2016
Pours a dark chestnut, resilient ivory colored head. Aroma of earth, sweet tea leaves, nuttiness. A bit thin on the tongue, toasted nuts, slightly sweet, caramel malts. Not bad, not captivating though. JPDIPSO (6216) - Wauwatosa, USA - OCT 28, 2016
Brown color with a quickly diminished head. After a re-pour the head was light tan for a second. Quite sweet from the start with a bit of toasted malt and brown sugar. Not much bitterness to back things up and has a worty/underattenuated flavor. Bleeeck! 2/11

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Janeís Beer and Wine. Aroma is cherry and caramel. Appearance is beautiful clear, dark red with decent sparkle, 1/2 finger-width off-white fleeting head and no lacing. Taste is sweet dark fruits/cherry and caramel with late mild herbs. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and sweet finish. Overall, perhaps picked up a slight contribution of the hemp in the taste but is not major. Is OK but nothing noteworthy. oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2016
Pours a medium brown color. Aromas of light chocolate, hops, and a touch of nut. Flavor has a smooth chocolate/coffee blend with a hint of nut, and a nice hop finish. MetalNHopHead (1887) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - MAY 6, 2016
I donít know much about hemp. It used to be my summer job to exterminate wild hemp and noxious weeds from my late grandmotherís farm. (Her name was Mary Jayne - you canít make that up). Hempís a hearty plant and a damned nuisance to remove. It smells sweet like oregano when fresh. Itís absolutely foul when burned. (Sadly, given the dismally low THC content burning it was not a pleasant removal method at all.) Humboldt Brown had a bit of that sweet, herbal character I remembered, but other than a faint aroma the hemp doesnít really add much. In the end, this brown ale ends up being, well, a brown ale. Nothing remarkable but totally okay. BrownALEx (457) - Portland, Michigan, USA - APR 1, 2016
Not great, not bad. Would be great to drink a whole six pack around a fire. Probably would not get again. geologyguy (1583) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - FEB 25, 2016
