COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boasting a ruby hue and an exquisite floral aroma, Red Nectar is a robust yet elegant brew with distinctive accents of toasted malt, caramel, spice and residual sweetness. The beer that started it all Red Nectar was considered a strange bird when it was first released in 1987. After all, where did a robust, handcrafted all-natural amber ale fit into the massive flock of American industrial lagers? Answer: it didnt. So it blazed its own trail, helping set the pace for the craft brew revolution. Enjoy Red Nectar for its dazzling reddish copper hue, original flavors and caramel spice accents. (Editors Note: originally brewed by Humboldt Brewing Company as "Humboldt Red Nectar Ale" until their acquisition by Firestone Walker.)

Draft at Fermentation. Amber pour with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of zesty citrus hops and some caramel malt backing. Solid balancing of flavor with sweet malts and more citrus and piney hops. Decent lingering hop bitterness.

This brew has a wonderful aroma. However, it tastes like soap. I pick up on some Irish Spring notes with a hint of Dial Gold floating in the wind. Just enough to make me gag, but not quite enough to make me hurl. I rate this one a 2.

Some rust and a little citrus. Decent malt backbone. Decent for style like a Canadian tuxedo. Amber pour with decent head. Tap somewhere - old rating.

Bottle to teku. Holy awesome, another damn amber ale. How did I get this? Why would someone do this to me? Oh well, I need room in the fridge for the two 12pack boxes that showed up today. Aroma of garbaged caramal, light buttered bread, sweet candy and brittle. Just what everyone wants. pours a reddish color with a small offwhite head. Taste is not that horrific if youre used to drinking shitty amber ales. Id put this one in the top third of this shit tier style of beer. It doesnt taste as bad as it smells and it has lightly bitter quality to balance all the other seemingly sweet and butter aspects that the aroma would indicate. Overall, Id rather not drink then drink this beer, but for the style, Id say its decent. Can we ban the style now and move on?
