(500ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) Pours a chocolate brown with decent bubbles and great lacing. Nose is alcoholic, unsweetened chocolate and odd egg aroma. Taste needs sweetness to match the heavy grains, smoke lingers on this one. Body is oily in a good way though. Oakes (17699) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 9, 2009
Dark brown. The aroma is towards the chewy, molassesy side of things. Good molassesy character. Fairly full body. Toasty finish almost has the harsh roast associated with some foreign stouts or macro darks. But it’s not bad. TBone (17581) - Pori, FINLAND - AUG 8, 2009

Dark nut brown color, small beige head. Caramel, rain water and some diacetyl in the nose. Very sweet, toffee-chocolaty flavor, also kind of saccarine sweetness here. Aftertaste brings some hops.
Draft @ Annafest. Nearly black with lasting cap and scant lace. Sweet molasses and dark date sugars in the aroma. Smooth, quaffable medium body has nice drinkability. Great amount of sweetness to balance a strong mineral flavor and some bitterness too. Very earthy with some toasted wood flavors. Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - JUL 22, 2009
bottle thanks to bu11zeye. poured dark brown with a white head. aroma of malt, grains, and dark fruit. flavor was caramel malt, toasted grains, and bitter grass.

bottle thanks to bu11zeye. light brown with an off white head. nose is chocolate and maple syrup. decent thickness with a chocolatey flavor that finishes with syrup. Cavie (4718) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUL 3, 2009
Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Dark brown pour that is pretty clear. Hints of strong butter on the nose. Bland butter taste. Aftertaste disappears immediately. Grainy and boring. Borresteijn (7174) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 8, 2009
50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Clear amber brown beer, off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, rye, a little chocolate. Flavour is sweet malty, nutty, ryebread, some creamy butter. Light bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Nice tasty and easy drinking beer. Alphadelic (2237) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 5, 2009
Deepish brown with hints of gold toward the edges when held to the light. A thin head.
Very malty and sweet smelling. Something reminiscent of fish-tanks. There is a dusty porridge scent too.
Pure wort, such slight hoppage they might as well have not bothered. Again, porridge strikes again.
Big and smooth with a light prickle on the tongue.
Quite strange and a bit laborious. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 8, 2009
.5 liter bottle at Spuyten. Pours a deep dark woody amber almost brown with a nice head. Aroma is caramel malts, light toast, some slight dark chocolate nuttiness and some slight butterscotch diacetyll. Flavor is a bit more diacetyl, chocoalte malt, light roast a touch of bready yeastiness, and a nutty somewhat dry finish and a slight metallic hint in the end.
