Shaney (2423) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - DEC 29, 2012
#184 Goldiges Festbier mit reichlich Schaum. Blumiges, leicht aromahopfiges Aroma. Test vom 11.8.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,12,13,12,9,12 - 12,00

motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 10, 2012
bottled, 4th of july tasting with mowbeer and skykob. pretty standard maerzen - dull copperish, slightly rusty aroma, some tinny bitterness with a lightly toffeed and sweaty malt character. probably pretty good at annafest, though

Draft. Poured into a ceramic mug with an off white head. Sweet malts, toasted bread, light toffee and earthy notes. Toasted malts in the finish. Good stuff.

downender (8774) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2012
Bottled as Hebendanz Annafestbier bought at Landbierparadies. Golden with a short lived white head. Light, slightly corny aroma with a touch of fruit. Flavour was sweet, with caramel and sherbet stoned fruits, some solid malts and gently bitter fish. Ok.

ganache (6033) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 28, 2012
Bottle by 01.12.12. Nose is lightly roasted, nutty caramel with faint grass and citrus. Even a little stroke of smoke. Pours dull, dark copper with minimal carbonation and a frothy, perfectly rocky white head that has superb retention. Lightly bittersweet with a mild tang, caramel with earth and a dash of citrus, some cracker and wood, mild fruit accent and very autumnal, though on the sweet side. Creamy smooth medium body, very different from recent Märzen (and those for Annafest), and I’m really coming to like Neder for its small details.

cubs (10693) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Day Two of the Great Chris Meyer/Aaron Nielsen Franconian Beer Tasting in Schlitz. Prost! Somewhat hazy, dark golden appearance with a white head. Fairly grassy, noble hoppy, toasty, cracker, herbal/floral hoppy, somewhat mineralic aroma. Quite pale malty, a bit fruity, toasty, grainy, somewhat floral hoppy flavor. Very similar to an Oktoberfestbier rather than a Märzen.

The head is ok. It smells hoppy-flowery a bit like orange peels. The taste is hoppy-flowery, spicy, in the aftertaste it is also a bit more sweet. Interesting Festbier! 11/10/11/10/10/10

Cask at GBBF. Clear amber brown beer, frothy white head. Soft palate. Light creamy aromatic malt. Fresh and light. Not much hop but okay.

(Rating #3825)

My Bottom Line :
Spicy hops colour this lager from aroma to aftertaste, as pillowy cereals provide a soft but full mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam covers the beer in the krug.
-This tastes doughy like many Annafestbiers that day. Malt flavors aren’t coming through too cleanly…
-Drinkability in this one is higher than the average Annafestbier.
-Light fruit nose appear, before and after the herbal hop touch.

On tap at Annafest.
