Bottle. Dark amber-red with a medium white head. Looks good so far. Light aroma, just a little grass and citrus. Simple malty flavor, sorta sweet. Short hint of grassy bitterness on the finish. Watery body, but as expected for a mexican beer. Especially good with spicy salsa and salty chips.

Intense black colour makes you think this beer’s going to pack a punch, and it does – but I’d call this a low-blow. Very little on the nose save the occasional whiff of malt. And the taste is absolutely horrible – there’s an unappetizing sharpness to it that feels like turpentine. Slightly less offensive in a glass vs. bottle, but that’s not saying much.

An interesting beer. Some nice darker roasted flavour, but not overpowering. What I would expect a Mexican dark beer to taste like! It is great if you want something more with your mexican food than just the watery pale alternatives. Great bottle shape.

Not bad for a Mexican beer masquerading itself as a Vienna munich beer. Slight maltiness coupled with week hops. Cheap to buy.

Given the choice between this and the usual Mexican beer this one wins hands down. Typical Mexican taste but more flavour than the big "C" with a decent caramel maltiness.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2007 This beer doesn’t seem to really qualify as a "dark beer" except in its appearance. It is not bitter, nor sweet, nor heavy, nor light. It has a creamy taste, almost like vanilla, and has no noticeable aroma. Overall it is a bit weak tasting, although not completely flavorless. Definitely worth trying, or drinking if you want a change of pace from some of the more commanding beers, but not really that exciting. Sort of like a good cream soda without the sugar.

Dark red pour, taste of malt with a weird, burnt overtone. Of couse, no hops to speak of. Pleasantly mellow carbonation puts this stuff in the ballpark of drinkable.

Perfectly drinkable but drab Mexican dark lager. Teak colour, tiny head, bit of lace. Caramel malt in the light, toasted hop aroma. Watery and over-carbonated. Skinny customer. Some coffee character and sweet malt. Unremarkable. (Bottle)
