This famous big boy beats your taste buds into submission, count them one, two, three dry hop additions. Once you’ve been taken hold from your first sip the powerful hop aroma and huge malt flavours will make your knees weak, but you’ll be begging for more.

Rating #970 - Feb 12, 2014 - $7.99CAD for a 650mL bomber from Sherbrooke. Clear golden pour with a bubbly white foam, spotty lacing. Nose is peach mango, mild grassiness. Mouthfeel crisp, medium-heavy alcohol warmth, low-medium carbonation. Taste is sweet tangerine, lemony notes with the spicy tang and hoppy bite, lots of cool pine/resin sticky hop notes too. Rivals Central City’s DIPA for best Canadian DIPA.

Bottle into IPA glass. Pours a hazy copper colour with off white head. Aroma is a little vegetative with some spice and citrus. Taste is malty with some pleasing bitterness and a little fruitiness.

Single 650 ml bomber bottle from Real Canadian Liquorstore, served in a Great Western-labeled 590 ml/20 oz. concave-sided glass, a recent find at Value Village. Pours a beautiful, clear cherry reddish-copper hue with plenty of fine, slow-moving carbonation, and generous, meringuey, well-retained off-white head, leaving soapy lace islands. It’s gloriously aromatic even as I wait for the froth to settle so I can continue pouring, offering up toasty malt and oats, peach cobbler, other citrus, red berries, and fresh piney hints, apples, cinnamon, and, surprisingly (perhaps due to the glass’ wide mouth releasing all the ale’s aromas), a saucy, spice and basil tomato hit...frankly, it’s making me hungry as much as thirsty. The flavors saturate the tongue in practically the reverse order of aromatic appearance, and the overall presentation is truly a rich "meal-in-a-glass". Moderately thick and creamywith just a light and pleasant toasty lingering afterwards.

650 ml bottle shared at Browners house. Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells like hops. Tastes the same. Strong bitter finish. Nice beer. I’ll have another.

Appearance: clear pale amber with one finger of ivory head diminishing rapidly to a thin cap, patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: pine, caramel malt, light tropical fruit and citrus, earthy and woody. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, lingering and building bitter finish. (4/5) Tried five other Nelson Brewing Company products on tap at the pub down the block this evening (check my Untappd profile if you care), but this one - no longer available on tap, they tell me - is the belle of the ball. Beefy big D/IPA, with an OK malt/hop balance (as usual, I’d prefer more hop-forward), some interesting earthy/woody complexity, and a decent integration of a respectably high ABV. (Snagged another dozen local/new-to-me at the same time, but can’t be bothered to do the haul list tonight.) (16/20)

Pours a clear copper with a head that lingers. Nose is citrus - very strong grapefruit. Taste follows nose with a dry hoppy finish. Very nice and refreshing.

[5942-20131019] Cask. Lightly toasted orange aroma. Hazy, orange brown body with a long-lasting bubbly off-white head. Bitter boozy honeyed sweet orange flavour has a long-lasting citrus base. Medium-full body. Good. (7/3/7+/4/15) 3.6

I would have liked to have a stronger aromatic kick for this brew. It was a refreshing IPA

Aroma is citrus rich hops and a nice earthiness. Slight sweet malts here aswell. Taste is a fairly pronounced bitterness that finishes smoothly. Appearance is a clear gold with a medium pearl head that retains well.

Deep clear copper body complete with a thick crown floating on top....... looks yummy! Taste pretty good...... kind of light for a double but still yummy. Not sure what hop this is but reminds of Nelson Sauvin hops. Easy to slam but..... but...... but I’m not excited. Bitterness builds, flavor lingers. Purple grape, lemon, mild leather, ends with a touch of soap. Malty and full flavored. Random words and sentences makes lame reviews longer then they seem. Sweetness builds to much, gets to sweet, I need insulin. Low alcohol and descent price point makes me want to buy this all summer long for a casual drinker................ but I’ll still most likely just buy 100 HOP STUPIDS and giggle my self to sleep. Tee Hee Hee..................... ZZzzzzzzzz
