3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Somewhat thin palate but mighty tasty plus I love the name and the label. Bonus is that learned a new word today, so drinking can be educational. Will definitely try to get my hands on more of these next time I am in Manchester.
Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is opaque black with thin ring of light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, hints of chocolate, dark fruits perhaps. Taste is roasted malt but there is a tart heaviness here. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and mild roasted malts but dominated by a tart quality finish. Overall, something went amiss here. The tart quality does not belong and isn't good. Didn't finish. SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 10, 2015
Une dégustation offerte par Frank. Merci!
Poured a dark brown color with aromas of earth, roast, light chalk and some light chocolate. Flavors follow suit, light ash thrown in. cpetrone84 (1810) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 26, 2014
Pour is a dark brown cola like color with a tight light caramel colored head. Nose is heavy roast and char with a light bit of dark malt and a faint touch of fudge. Taste is even more heavily charred and a bit acrid. Some malt berry sweetness in the back and a hint sugary behind all the char. Medium to light body, slightly slick up front, well carbonated and fairly dry. fishonmyplane (505) - Newington, Connecticut, USA - MAR 11, 2014
A classic dry stout with lots of roasted and burnt flavors. Hints of unsweetened chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied. Creamy dark grey head, which floats as one large mass - almost like a floating scoop of ice cream. Hides the ABV pretty well.

Pours a two finger light tan head that fades slowly and leaves traces of lace. Black color, no highlights, ton of yeast left in bottle. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Roasted coffee nose and flavor is roasted/burnt coffee. Dry finish. 22oz bottle $6.99 from Market Basket Concord, NH. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 19, 2013
22 oz bottle. Black brown with a dirty tan head. Nose is coffee, smoke and light caramel. Creamy medium body with a soft tang. Taste is black coffee, green plum, smoke and aluminum. Mostly roasty; needs more malts or hops or both. AdamChandler (5178) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 31, 2013
Pitch black. Smells oddly sweet with figs. Tons of roasted barley. Whoa. Very toasty. Not much else. Ugh nimbleprop (8750) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 25, 2013
