Pours a dusty gold color under a tall, off-white head.
The aroma is slightly sweet and floral.
The flavor is sweet on the front with some bitterness towards the back.
Maybe a hint anise in there. Wittales (884) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 16, 2012
Appearance was cloudy orangish amber with diminsihing creamy tannish 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are caramel, brown sugar, deep fruit, no alcohol or hops. Taste was sweet caramel sugars and slight cherry, date, fig, mild aclohol bite. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with meduim body, lasting alcoholic fruity sweet medicinal finish. Finish ruined it for me... jdleigh (53) - - SEP 13, 2012
Cool bottle. Sweet caramel and diacetyl with a sweet malt flavor. No hops. Ok if you like an all- brew. BVery (11364) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - AUG 23, 2012
Swing-top bottle. Rich amber pour with an off-white head. Smells and tastes a bit like a malt liquor, just with more body. Vegetal, some plastic, dusty caramel malts, almost artificially sweet. Another bad one from this brewer. BigBeer45 (1565) - Michigan, USA - AUG 18, 2012
Bottle, the flip top gave a good pop! when opened,
this ale poured a clear burnt orange/red-brown color and made almost a one finger head of white and faint off-white bubbles, the head receded to a partial cover and ring, the glass had a center slow moving stream of bubbles, this beer left some nice spots, fingers and partials rings of lacing on the glass,
the aromas were mild toasted malt, wood(?), earthy notes, faint caramel and fruit with very faint chocolate, I thought theer was oxidized and/or old malt in this beer, maybe it was the yeast?
it had flavors of toasted malt, dry caramel (not much sweetness), bread, faint chocolate, and bread sweetness, a touch dark fruit,
the finish had some malt trailing with little bitterness after the finish (I think the bitterness was from the alcohol),
the mouth feel was less than medium, and had soft carbonation,
the nose was weak and not interesting or engaging, it smelled a little oxidized or that it had sat around for while (the best by date for this bottle is 2013), the alcohol was hidden well, no hint of the 8%, I thought this doppelbock was not as sweet or big as the many Doppelbocks I have sampled.

500 ml ceramic swing-top bottle from Trader Joe’s. Rich orange copper color topped by a medium sized foamy beige head. Caramel grainy toasted malt nose. Bittersweet dried fruit malt flavor. Herbal hops with notes of raisins and alcohol. Sweetish candi sugar prescence? Interesting and different. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 31, 2012
Half liter swingtop from Trader Joe’s Glen Allen, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a large fizzy off-white head. Decent
head retention. Aroma of floral notes, stone fruits, citrus and caramel. The taste is caramel malts, candied fruits and
very faint hops. Medium bodied, a little one note and too sweet. kseecs16 (1216) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a thin whispy off-white head that gathers at the edge of the glass. Malty, sweet, nondescript flavor. Medium bodied.

Bottle, pours a clear dark amber with a small off-white / beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, caramel, vegetal notes, biscuity malts - very German smell. Flavour of bananas, clove, toasted nuts, toffee and some vegetal notes. Thin palate with not much complexity. Not too bad though. unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Trader Joe’s, 500mL Swing-top bottle. Opened with a ’Pmop’. Dark copper color. Creamy white head. Aroma of toasted malts, nutty caramel scent, grassy \ floral hops, a bit of booze. Sweet flavor, toasted malt, nutty, caramel. Herbal hop in the finish. Really good, great deal for the money. Italian beers are soo expensive, thanks TJs. (3352)
