Chelmsford Beer Festival 2010. Thanks to Chris O for the recommendation. Frothy, creamy head, dark opaque colour, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, nutty texture, sweet leathery yeast, wood, maple syrup, vanilla and a full bodied kick with a moderate sweet bitterness element and also a long finish. Enjoyed. A great beer. renffisch (891) - london, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2010
Half of my Dave at GBBF. Gravicask. Dark mahogany colour, thin light beige rim, no lace. Lovely rost and dark chocolate nose. Smooth earthy roast flavors. Velvet mouthfeel. Well hidden alc with a hint of bitterness towards the end. lovely Leighton (21258) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2011
Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Rich brown pour with a lasting, light tan head. Mild roast aroma with some citrus hops poking through. Rich flavor, lightly roasty with coffee, baking cocoa, burnt sugar, some grass and citrus bitters. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, nicely balanced roasted malts and almost juicy hops. I would call this a British-style black IPA. Good stuff. oh6gdx (26488) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 5, 2011
