From cask. Pours deep amber and golden with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and slight fruity. Roasted malty and breadish flavoured. Bitter and dry. Roasted and hoppy. Bitter and yet malty finish. Ends dry and bitter.

Kings Head, Norwich. Clear dark brown beer. Light white head. Softish semi dry palate. Fair bit of malt with a trace of toffee. Orange in the undertone, drop of ref fruits as well. Finishes dry. Not bitter. Inoffensive.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2011 Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival Day 2, August 2009. Dark chestnut colour. Quite roasty aroma. Light mouthfeel with some fruity malt. Very sweet which compromises the overall impact for me. Otherwise a decent mild. Just not really to my taste. [6/3/5/2/11 = 2.7]
RE-RATE. Cask (gravity dispense) at the Bree Louise on 5 November 2011. Indeed ruby red. Fruity and sharp. Lots of berries. Sour tang. Not in great condition but came out surprisingly well. Perhaps that worked in its favour for me as it offset the sweetness that I noted on a previous tasting. [6/3/6/3/13 = 3.1]

Milky roast. Fairly solid, but the lacticity built up and detractoed from teh taste eventually. Pretty OK, I guess.

Cask conditioned, gravity dispense at The Lord Nelson Inn, Reedham, Norfolk. Reddy brown with white head. I had a big leafy tobacco note right away with this, then a sweetish chocolate, toffee flavour. Vanilla in the close, smooth but flawed.

Brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and dried fruit. Sweet malty flavour with toffee and a hint of roast character
