Cask conditioned handpump Merchants Inn Rugby 15/06/13. A brown beer with a whitish head and lace. Grainy, husky, thin and dull. Low hopping. No depth of flavour. Quite painful.

Cask @ JDW Willow Walk. Amber with a small head. Toffee, bread, a bit of fart on the nose. Little else. Not a great start. The taste is black tea, more caramel. Some twig. A touch of acidic red apple skin. Somewhat papery. Light body, soft carbonation. Overall, entirely uninspiring.

Clear amber brown beer. Light cream coloured head. Softish light palate. Nicely balanced soft malt and reasonable hop presence. A decent bitter but doesn’t quite escape the shackles of English Bitter Blandness syndrome!

Cask (handpump) @ The Bankers Draft, 1-3 Market Place, Sheffield, South Yorkshire England S1 2GH.

Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, berry, keller, nutty notes, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100424]

floris87 (35) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - OCT 25, 2010
Deep red colour, small white head. Aroma sour, with apple, chocolate and nutty elements. Taste is bitter, with a sour, fruity aftertaste. A decent beer, not fantastic.

SilkTork (5738) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - JUL 24, 2010
JDW Spring Fest 2010, Rochester. Best bitter with crystal malt giving an autumnal twang - slightly roasty, slightly twiggy and boggy. Crystal malt can be an awkward malt - used well it adds sweetness and some slight roasty chocolate notes, adding interest and flavour to a beer. Used too much and the beers taste damp and ugly and a little tannic and dry. This is more in the later camp.

DougShoemaker (3147) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2010
Cask. Aroma is sweet, almost cola-like with some good malt as well, copper, small toffee head, plenty of lace. Flavour is apples, malt, woody and nutty too. Light bodied, balanced, nice level of bitterness, very dry. A nice session.

DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 24, 2010
Cask Handpump at the Bankers Draft JDW, Sheffield 24/04/2010 Floral bready aroma. Bronze coloured a little rich on the palate and dry with a bitter and slightly earthy finish.
