Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 500 ml bottle - hazy medium orange pour, sticky snow white head, decent lacing. Aroma is that of ripening vegetables, a touch of brown sugar. Flavor is blandish and tastes gluten-free like (i.e. lacking any real substantive flavor - but it is surprisingly not). Pick up some light brown sugar notes, some ripening vegetables, a touch of molasses. Mouthfeel thick enough and not starch and some organics tend to be, Bierkrug (2129) - - DEC 30, 2013
500 ml Bottle in Garmisch, Germany, Pours a clear deep amber/gold color with a nice and creamy white head. Aroma is sweet malt and fruit. Taste is malt, vanilla and honey, Semi-sweet, Mellow and understanding palate. Nice and a good Festbier. uckelman (813) - Durham, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2013
Pours orangish amber, small off-white head. Slightly hazy. Aroma is honey and raisins. Rather sweet. Finish is kind of astringent. Medium body. ARMed (625) - Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 16, 2013
There is really nothing "Spezial" about this beer. In it’s pure form it reminds me of an American microbrew that is unfiltered and lacking balance and uniqueness. It has a nice sweet flavor with a bubble gum hoppy finish. The appearance is a bronze hazy beer with poor lacing and balance. Would not recommend buying this one. mediocre at best. Nearly clear orange color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is toast, malt, dust, grass. Lighter bodied, watery finish. J_man (1017) - Tustin, California, USA - APR 23, 2013
Orangy yellow and hazy, with a good German lager aroma. Unlike a lot of "premium lagers", this has a real flavor and body. There’s the traditional German lager flavor but with a more pronounced biscuity maltiness. Good balance of light caramel sweetness and light earthy bitterness. Finishes smooth and creamy with a good lager aftertaste. Amazingly, I got this at Total Wine for 99 cents! Looking forward to this next winter. Happy German Beer Day everyone! edpeg (904) - Berlin, GERMANY - MAR 6, 2013
Bottle 0,5 l , new label design. Pours in to a copper, dark orange reddish slightly unclear body with white dense lacing head. Aromas include caramel sweet malts, hay, fruity notes , oranges and berries. Palate is medium thin, crispy, with medium fizzy carbonation and lively mouthfeel. Taste is sweet malts, licorice caramel, with medium weak bitterness and some dryness on the tongue. Finish is thin watery, dry with sweet taste. Overall pretty good Märzen beer. Quite simple in texture but with decent amount of flavors. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a slightish white head. Nose is malty and slightly sweet with a hint of caramel in there. Taste is much the same, and is very light and smooth.
