Cask, Volo, Cask Crawl 2009. Black with a nice creamy tan head. Nice sweet aroma. Taste was very sweet, great creamy mouthfeel, with a good amount fo hops in there. Very falvourful! And excellent sweet stout, thanks to Ralph for finding some at the end of a fresh cask for me. MrManning (2009) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 3, 2009
On tap at the King Edward in Ilderton, ON- A very deep and dark opaque motor oil pour, almost black. Pours a frothy and long lived finger of mocha froth. Nose of cocoa, molasses, roasted malts, fresh floral hops, some coffee and some vanilla. Tastes quite sweet. Of chocolate covered coffee beans, honey, fruits, roasted malts, again with the fresh hops. This is very creamy and downright drinkable. A pleasant surprise on my latest visit to the King Edward. Thanks for getting this on Rich and Deb! This is the best beer from Neustadt thus far. pootzboy (1760) - Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 17, 2010
Can from the brewery pored a deep opaque brown with a smallish mocha cap, decent lacing. Aroma is pungent with roast grains cocoa and a honey sweetness just below the grassy-spicy hops. Rounded mellow character chewy mouth feel, Big roast-cocoa-malt with a underlying tangy honey note which is pleasantly sweet nowhere near cloying. Rich roasty- cereal body gives way to a long wet finish punctuated with roast and some char astringency and a light hop bite. A unique take on a sweet stout with local honey substituting for lactose usually used in these sweet stouts and Pacific Jades out shining the traditional goldings. A milk stout with a couple of twists ....Another great release from this brewer. robinvboyer (4699) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2009
Hand Pump at C’est What?
This was an interesting beer. It was quite sweet, but also very hoppy!
Poured a very deep black with a nice big fluffy mocha head. Aroma was of sweet chocolate, coffee, and sweet molasses and brown sugar, but with also a touch of sweet hops, and some subtle sour citrus. The flavor was quite roasty with that sweet/sourness, I really enjoyed it. It was odd at 1st, but it really grew on me, mind you it was probably my 8th beer that night so maybe my taste bud were out of whack, i’m excited to see what other raters say about it.

[2070-20090403] Cask. Car tire roasted malt aroma with a mild fruitiness. Black body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head and some thick lacing. Boozy black and thick flavour has roasted malt and heavy wood undertones with a long aftertaste of tea. Full body. Good, but annoying aftertaste.

50 cl can, birthday present from Rick and Reet, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Jet black, dark almond head. Sweet malt aroma balanced with some resin. Sweet first sip then gradually changing to a pungent soy and banana finish. Slacks (615) - Bolton, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2010
500ml Can: Dark brown pour, giant foamy tan head. Very roasty, caramel aroma. Well carbonated, middle-of-the-road mouthfeel. Very sweet, honey, roast coffee beans, chocolate. Actually very nice, and a refreshing change from some of the more traditional stouts we seem to get here in Ontario. JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - APR 2, 2011
Pitch black with a tight creamy head from the cask. Loads of coffee and herbal hoppiness as well. Fairly chewy bitter cocoa palate and a lot of earthy character. Some black licorice and chewy earthy character. Assertively hopped. It’s decent although I’d like more sweetness in a beer like this. kevinsenn (2236) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 30, 2013
Can from brewery. Black with bubbly black head. Aroma is sweet, roasty, and earthy. Roasty taste, with chocolate and some sweetness. Very slight berry notes. Dry roasty finish. Medium-bodied, with a slightly watery finish. Quite good overall. HogTownHarry (7012) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 16, 2009
Cask. At Volo. Near opaque black with red fringes - small frothy tan head. Light aroma - sweet, minty, slighty lactic, definitely herbal, almost resiny. Niiiiice taste - dry, acidic, hints of dark fruits and mild coffee - is the bitterness from the tea? - seems vinous, red wine-like tannins. Light, slick, very astringent mouthfeel, has an odd grapeskin/grapeseed aftertaste - interesting, the tannic bitterness is cool.
