500ml Can: Dark brown pour, giant foamy tan head. Very roasty, caramel aroma. Well carbonated, middle-of-the-road mouthfeel. Very sweet, honey, roast coffee beans, chocolate. Actually very nice, and a refreshing change from some of the more traditional stouts we seem to get here in Ontario.
Free pour at victory cafe is out of cask & is deep black with a non existent cap. Goes down smooth & oily, with a nutty flavour. Mouthfeel is almost silken. Low key, subtle sipper. kevinsenn (2263) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 30, 2013
Can from brewery. Black with bubbly black head. Aroma is sweet, roasty, and earthy. Roasty taste, with chocolate and some sweetness. Very slight berry notes. Dry roasty finish. Medium-bodied, with a slightly watery finish. Quite good overall. solidfunk (9363) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - NOV 19, 2012
Smells smoky with caramel. Pours pitch black with no head. Decent dose of bitterness. There’s an odd zing I can’t place that gives this some points for me. Tap at Bar Hop. fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 18, 2012

Dark color with dark creamy head. Nice peaty aroma. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, peat. Correct bitterness.
On cask. Amber black with a low brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, cherry, floral and caramel. Milky, fairly full body. Black tea dryness, sweet with a dry cocoa powder finish. It’s not complex, but unique and balanced flavour. Nice.

Dark ruby colour with a tan head that fades quickly. Roasted notes in the weak aroma. Some lemony sourness and tannic tea qualities woven nicely together with a roasty malt backbone. Light bodied and kind of drying. thb (832) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 14, 2011
Dark brown/near black with thin head. Aromas: coffee, cocoa, burnt toast. Definitely wouldn’t call it a sweet stout - it was rather dry in fact. barncatmatt (2287) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 30, 2011
473ml can @ the brain in hamilton. dark brown pour, small tan head that reduces to a ring. nice roast malt and slightly sweet malt nose. well rounded flavour, to dry to be a sweet stout. alcohol come through a bit to much. more body would really bring everything together. thx heather! Pitch black with a tight creamy head from the cask. Loads of coffee and herbal hoppiness as well. Fairly chewy bitter cocoa palate and a lot of earthy character. Some black licorice and chewy earthy character. Assertively hopped. It’s decent although I’d like more sweetness in a beer like this. mmacleod75 (112) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 4, 2011
Poured from can. Dark colour, almost black with small head that disappeared quickly and little lacing on glass. Malt aroma, a bit grassy. Coffee flavor with some hops bitterness. Decent overall.
