Near black body with gray-brown head. Aroma is coffee, moderately sweet. Taste is sugared coffee, with cream even -- not as oversweetened as the Black Abbot (thank goodness), but still too sweet for my taste.

Lubiere (13701) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2004
Black beeer with a nice reddish hue, with a light collapsing moka head. Chocolate vinous aroma with a touch of fresh air. Pleasant caramle malts, some nice little hops, some vanilla. Bodied is lighter than expected but the beer is thoroughly enjoyable. Sweetness is increased by camembert, which alos refreshes the beer even more. A big thanks to Maibockaddict, who recommend a slow sipping session, which i am doing right now, after a day of biking!!! Haaaaa.

Deep dark brown, almost opague. Roasted malt and anis in the aroma. Pours a huge head. Soft malty sweet flavor with anis and mint. Roasted malt. Looks a bit like a Belgian sweet stout, but I like this beer better.

I liked this better than the Blackened Voodoo Schwarzbier because it was not as overly carbonated. Black color and decent head/lacing. I cant see dropping $3.50 to add this to my bathwater though. Usually you take a bath to get rid of the beer smell, not vice versa. Fairly sweet malty maple flavor with coffee notes. Id have this one again.
