Bottle at Die Kleine Bierstube. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Dark almost black ruby colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Very nice roasted moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Lubiere (14131) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2004
Black beeer with a nice reddish hue, with a light collapsing moka head. Chocolate vinous aroma with a touch of fresh air. Pleasant caramle malts, some nice little hops, some vanilla. Bodied is lighter than expected but the beer is thoroughly enjoyable. Sweetness is increased by camembert, which alos refreshes the beer even more. A big thanks to Maibockaddict, who recommend a slow sipping session, which i am doing right now, after a day of biking!!! Haaaaa.

Near black body with gray-brown head. Aroma is coffee, moderately sweet. Taste is sugared coffee, with cream even -- not as oversweetened as the Black Abbot (thank goodness), but still too sweet for my taste. Christian (13807) - Odense, DENMARK - OCT 11, 2010
Deep ruby brown with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of malt, licorice and a hint of anise. Thin, ashy dark flavour with some hay and grain notes crossovert (13747) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 24, 2011
Like most from this brewery it is almost like an extract brew. It has some nice roasted notes but is otherwise un-memorable. BeerandBlues2 (13718) - Escondido, California, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Tap at Max’s. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt with prunes, dates and earthy hops. Deep dark brown, almost opague. Roasted malt and anis in the aroma. Pours a huge head. Soft malty sweet flavor with anis and mint. Roasted malt. Looks a bit like a Belgian sweet stout, but I like this beer better.
