COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The great Bill Monroe described his bluegrass music as “Scottish bagpipes and ole-time fiddlin’. It’s Methodist and Holiness and Baptist. It’s blues and jazz, and it has a high lonesome sound.” Our Black & Blue Grass begs to concur. Belgian yeast and stateside Saison spicing; black pepper and blue agave and lemongrass, and a great bet alongside any food you have around. Or, just enjoy a bomber of Black & Blue Grass as you watch the springtime ponies run.

Bottle from quenholly. Thanks! Initially a very floral and perfumey scent with some honey, straw, and lemon dishwashing liquid following. The color is amber-gold and a thin head develops on top when poured out. Very minimal lacing. Sweet citrusy flavors (probably the agave), some wheat grain, honey blossom, and the soapy lemon also noted in the aroma. There’s a little peppery bitterness in the back end that’s a welcomed contrast to the sweetness. It’s a bit too sweet overall though without much funk at all. But definitely not a bad beer.

Lighter colored, slightly sweet aroma. Mild flavors, sweet, yeasty, thicker body.

On tap at Cincinnati Winter Beer Fest (CWBF) 2013. Mildly hazy amber color. Foamy off-white head. Fruity (agave?) nose. Medium body. Smooth carbonation. No viscosity. Agave fruity taste, some wheaty bread. Light bitter taste. Sweet finish. Interesting stuff. Solid agave ale. Some nice light hop to it.

Draft at CWBF - pours cloudy gold with offwhite head. Floral yeast nose. Flavor is floral hop with light caramel. Conservatively sweet with a slightly bolder bitterness. Straw/wheat aftertaste.

Nose is coriander, floral hops and citrus. Taste matches scent, lots of coriander and an earthy finish. Smooth beer, would be great on a hot summer day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of the brewer. Pours clear orange with some soapy head lingering around the edges. Nose lends pepper, grass sweet malts, light lemon notes, blend of purfume and fruity esters. Flavor is spicy and the lemon and pepper really come out. Medium light body and a clean dry shirt finish. Drinkable and interesting.

This draft brew from a beer festival poured a head of foamy white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma was spicy and mild malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild spice and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Bottle. Mostly clear golden orange. White head. Nose/taste of agave nectar, red fruits, orange candy, lemongrass, white pepper, honey and exotic fruits. Body is a bit thin, but beer is tasty.

Rated on 11-14-12 at 800 Degrees Three Fires. Poured a small ivory head that mostly diminished, very little lacing, transparent body, very little visible carbonation, and a golden hue. The Aroma is yeasty, spicy, floral, and some hints of perfume. The Flavor is semi-sweet, lemony, mildly spicy, and some tastes of yeast. The Mouthfeel is smooth and this is a medium bodied Saison. Overall, this is a quaffable Saison, worth a try and a beer that I would drink again.

Draft at the source. Clear gold, white head. Aroma of fruity citrus. Taste is peppermint candy, grass, oil of wintergreen. Unique.
