Roasted aroma with something lurking behind it that I can’t place. Pours an opaque black, with just a dusting of bubbles for a head. This has a roasted flavor, with a lingering coffee note in the finish. This was a really disappointing beer, with just a bunch of mediocre notes pulling it together. ryanfolty (2655) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - JAN 25, 2012
Date: January 25, 2012 Mode: Tap Source: Tomlinson Tap Room Description: Dark brown pour, coffee, roasty, and maybe some slight smoke. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - JAN 6, 2012
22oz bottle from sefus12, thanks Beau! Pours a black body with some reddish hues around the edges. Finger-width, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma has a really nice chocolate and caramel malt backing with a balanced roasty coffee. A touch of smoke, lager fruits, and a hint of hops. Flavor is similar. Pleasant chocolate and caramel up front before some roasts and coffee come in to balance. Some more lager fruits and a hint of smoke before a light, but noticeable hopping comes in to help the roasts balance a dry, but chocolatey finish. Light bitterness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium, smooth body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid baltic porter. Very easy drinking for the ABV% with a really nice chocolate backing. A balanced roastiness with a light, but noticeable hopping keeps this dry and enjoyable. Good beer.

Received in trade from phisigben, thanks for the opportunity. The cap comes off with a very loud pfffttt noise and three seconds later I’m sucking suds in an attempt to keep beer off of those papers over there on my desk. Pours into the glass a hazy dark brown with more than 1/2 a glass of light tan soap bubbles. Smells of roast and chocolate with lots of caramel, light aromas of pitted dark fruit, and a hint of wet dog. Taste is roasty chocolate and caramel with a little bit of dark fruit and some cardboard like flavors in there as well. Medium body with an overabundance of carbonation and a bubbly oily chalky mouthfeel. This doesn’t taste half bad, but the over carbonation ruined the mouthfeel and the touch of oxidation doesn’t help either. I did open this straight out of the refrigerator too. Draft. Dark brown with a thin wispy tan head. Coffee, roasty, slight raisin sweet aroma. Roasty coffee, sweet body, firm bitterness and some alcohol in the finish. jkwood04 (5472) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 28, 2011
22oz bottle in a shaker. Pours very dark brown with a lacy head. Aroma of roasted malts, a little smokiness, hints of chocolate, and some floral hops. Flavor the same. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer. drfabulous (8809) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - NOV 9, 2011
