Aroma is spices, Belgian yeast and a hint of vegetables. The flavor is rye and barley malts, an undercurrent of spice, a hint of citrus, mild sweetness and a tart finish. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 6, 2012

Sampled at an esbls tasting. Cool thick layer of small bubbles. Mid brown. Smooth. Chocolaty with complex fruit and softer hops. Alcohol is only lightly tasted. This is chewy and tasty. ContemplateBeer (2089) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 25, 2012
Aroma of gum, rye, banana and resin hops. Appearance is red/brown with bone head. Flavor matched the nose, but with a little pepper. Palate was very creamy. I liked this one quite a bit. TheBeerOrg (2145) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 23, 2012
Pours dark amber with a thin fully receding off-white head. Notes of raisin, clove, ginger, caramelized wort, wine notes, alcohol, brown sugar, bitter spice. Full bodied, alcoholic with soft carbonation. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - JAN 20, 2012
22oz bottle from sefus12, thanks Beau! Pours a cloudy, amber colored body with a finger-width, fizzy and frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a solid lacing. Aroma is pretty sweet with caramel and cherry dark fruits along with a light orange hop, a touch of doughy yeast, a nice clove spice that comes out more as this warms, and maybe a hint of rye. Flavor is sweet caramel with some bread and a hint of grainy rye up front. Lots of cherry dark fruits, some doughy yeast, clove, rye spice, a touch of honey sweetness, and a nice orange, herbal hopping that helps this dry pretty well with a light bitterness that’s assisted by a touch of rye spice. Lengthy aftertaste following a bit of a syrupy, medium, round body with a moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a decent Belgian strong. Pretty sweet, but the flavor offers a nice balance with the light herbal hopping and rye spice. Not bad. bluejacket74 (1992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 27, 2011
22 ounce bottle. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a hazy reddish/amber color with about an inch tan head. The head retention is good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing left on the glass. The brew smells like honey, caramel malt, oranges, candy sugar, and some sweet spices. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s the addition of some rye and an earthy/musty flavor. There’s also a lingering bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and has very high but soft carbonation. I think it’s a decent brew, and it’s worth a try if you’ve never had it before. I’d like to try this on tap in the future.
