For our new Fat Tire & Friends Collabeeration Pack, we teamed up with Allagash Brewing from Portland, Maine.

Who wants the funk? Fat Tire wants the funk. Our New England friends at Allagash brought it, taking Fat Tire back to its Belgian roots with a De Dolle house Belgian yeast strain that adds classic pear, banana and spice to Fat Tire’s malty goodness. They then bottle-conditioned the beer with Brettanomyces Allagagensis for a spicy finish. Get your funk on.

Slight gusher, mayhaps the brett. Amber, with speckled white head. Aroma of pears. Banana and grain in taste, with mild astringency into the finish. $25 mixed case

Panzuriel (2465) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - FEB 3, 2018
Appearance: Bright copper. Finger of small white bubbles. Hazy. Nose: Earthy and sour. Perhaps some citrus Taste: Quite powerfully sour with some earth and funk. Difficult to detect anything else. Body: Lively carbonation. Lighter with a little fluidity. Parting thoughts: This was at least a year old when sampled. Do things like this become stronger? If so, that might be what has happened. I have one bottle left. I’m tempted to let it go another year and sample it then.

8/24/2016 -- from notes: 12oz bottle, from Craft Pointe. Bottled 15APR16. Shared with friends. Definitely a pleasantly funky brett nose. Pear, spice is present in the nose. Some toasty malt, mild caramel in the flavor. Moderate sweet taste, kind of tangy, mild tart. Bit dry towards the finish. Mostly clear amber color. Nice thin off-white head. Leaves great, thicker lace. Medium-plus body, more full feel. Kind of soft, sort of effervescent carbonation. More dry on the finish. Fun. Better than expected.

Rating #2788 - 2016.09.01 - Fat Tire and Friends mixer from Sherbrooke. Aroma is brett funk, some caramel, some cooked pear. Pours a clear amber with a white cap that fades instantly. Palate has some toffee malt, some banana, some spice, and some funkiness. Decent.

RSRIZZO (2034) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - AUG 6, 2017
12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Snifter at 42°. Color is golden with very high carbonation, I couldn’t get half the bottle poured before the big fluffy head grew out over the top of my glass. Aroma is bad, old band-aid and barnyard. It has a medium body with a somewhat smooth and fizzy mouth feel. Flavor is not much better than the aroma, same thing but the barn is a touch lighter. Aftertaste is sour and tart with that band-aid thing jumping out for a moment then falling away. Overall its not as offensive as some that I’ve had but this is still too much of the funk to be good.

On the RBSG16 bus. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Soft musk, wheat, musk. A bit of yeast. Medium bodied, soft musk, a bit of grain. Toast, grain, musk. Lightly yeasty.

12 oz bottle. Copper color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is of funk, pepper, herbal, floral. Taste is of hay, peppery, funk, bitter florals, and nectarine.

dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 27, 2017
Big foamy head over slightly hazy amber. Mildly tart, light fruits, a bit of spice. Not bad.

PugUglyBrewer (891) - - FEB 25, 2017
Slightly cloudy pale golden color with a pillowy white head of foam. Wild funky yeast character; banana-ish, hay, light pepper, and some floral influence.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8362) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2017
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright copper color with an enormous foamy orange-white head that towered over the glass, lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tart, chalky and somewhat fruity. The flavor was dry, tart, perfumey and chalky. Light body and massively overcarbonated. Long finish. Not good at all.

Patrickctenchi (6832) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JAN 29, 2017
Bottle: Slightly hazed amber with a huge beige head. Pear, banana, grain scent. Taste is light barnyard funk, fruits..... Very soft and pleasant.
