Medium gold with a light haze - soapy lace - pine and cedar hit the notes first, followed by sweet tropical notes and citrus zest - texture is a little oily - medium-low, soft carbonation - flavor is pretty straightforward - zesty, peppery hops - strong bitterness that is held in check fairly well by the sweeter notes of peach and tropical fruit - piney hop character late - alcohol is masked well, aside from a bit of warmth in the finish, and it mostly just accentuates the spicy hops in the finish - it’s nothing terribly complex, but it has nice hop aromatics and is balanced and enjoyable for the style.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2012 bottle. clear orange with a fine white head and little retention. powerful orange and peach gelatin and pine resin nose with circulating notes of cedar shavings and rye seed. medium-low carbonation; medium-high sweetness; medium-high bitterness; medium acid; chewy and syrupy texture as expected of the style but the low carbonation is soft enough to keep things in place, texture-wise. pine shavings and resin dominate the hop flavor while toasted orange peel and tart peach linger underneath. about what you’d expect: big, bold, powerful and simple. not really my thing these days, but I can appreciate the effort.

(22oz bottle) clear rich amber, offwhite head. Nose of rich tropical fruit, tiny bit of caramelized onion, fairly sweet but also quite hoppy. Taste of onion, light grapefruit bitterness, melba toast, pretty fresh. Medium body that tends on the sweet side, nice IPA.

Pours clear golden / copper with a nice beige head. The aroma has lots of tropical hops, mild sweetness, modest toast, citrus, floral hops, light pine and green onions - nice. It has a medium / full body that’s a bit rough and grainy with smooth semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with dry caramel malt, nice toast, funky hops, perfume/floral hops and some citrus. The finish has grapefruit, pine, earth and a lot of hop resin. Really nicely done.

Tap. Pours hazy golden amber with a large off-white creamy head that dissipates slowly with good lacing. Aroma is strong grapefruit, pine resin. Flavor is grapefruit, spruce and pine, mild caramel malt, some undefined spice and herb flavors. Medium bitter finish. Rich and full bodied. Very good beer.

The beer pours a golden-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of big time hops. I get some pine and resin, as well as a good deal of grapefruit and some papaya. The flavor is very similar. There is a lot of resinous grapefruit notes, as well as some biscuit malt. The bitterness is fairly high and there is a ton of hop flavor, including some nice pine notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A great IPA that definitely shows a bit of the Alpine influence.
