3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
body is deep brown with a light tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly. aroma is mostly coffee and dry chocolate. taste is similar, but with a higher chocolate-to-coffee ratio than you would expect given the aroma. taste also includes some maltiness, a bit of nuttiness, and maybe the slightest bit of caramel. overall flavor is semi-sweet to sweet, without much bitterness. thin to moderate consistency.
From Jan 2006
Poured from bottle(room temp) a pitch black with a huge head of foam that dissipates slowly leaving a fine layer and some lacing.
The smell is of roasted malt and there's a bit of a bitterness there as well...I like it.
The taste is dominated by roasted malt at first, with a noticeable oatmeal flavour that brings out some sweet notes coming through midway. The finish brings back the roastiness and is teamed with a bit of bitterness that makes for an excellent overall tasting beer.
Bottom line: Here's an unusual style of beer that has a lot of good things going on....I recommend it!

A fine beer. I probably wouldn't go buy a sixpack of it but I would enjoy it if I did. Big malty taste, lightly carbonated, lightly hopped. Very drinkable, improves as it warms. Somewhat nutty with a dry finish that has notes of biscuit

From bottle in shaker. Pours reddish brown with thick frothy head and modest choc malt aroma. Tasty and smooth with a bit of malt sweetness in the finish. Bob26 (3) - - SEP 8, 2017 does not count

Aromat kawy, razowego chleba. Kolor ciemnego bursztynu. Dobrze nasycone, piana z dużych pęcherzyków. Dość gorzkie.

Had this from the bottle. At the bar at the Hilton Garden Inn. Good very dark beer and very malty with chocolate flavor but not heavy.

Pours a dark and deep brown almost black, a reasonable sized off white head, aroma is malty, chocolate and dried fruits, flavour being chocolate sweetness, medium body, this is smooth and very easy drinking, might keep a couple handy. paulcliff (60) - - JUL 24, 2017
Malty aroma, dark but clear with minimal head, medium bodied with hint of sweetness on the finish. Black lager isn't my go-to style but this is pretty nice.

Pours dark brown from the bottle and leaves a foamy, off white head that lingers. Aroma is toast, chocolate, caramel. Taste is lightly sweet with some mild bitterness in the finish. Body is medium with a rich, creamy, roasted character. Overall very nice. FinnIckler (884) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 6, 2017
Bottle. Nose is citrus, earthy, chocolate, coffee. Palate is citrus, chocolate, toffee, bread. Pretty gritty, but still a nice brew.
