3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber brownish color with a thin white head. Aroma is slightly spiced with light hops. Flavor is slightly hoppy with some spice notes. Not much body to it though, could be a little heavier with the malts. Aftertaste is a little sour as well. Overall not bad, but I could find better beers for the winter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours amber with a nice head and lacing. The aroma is hops and fruit. The taste is hops, dark fruit, and caramel. This was better than expected.

Pours a cloudy, amber color with a white head. Aroma is mostly malty with a hint of citrus hops. Flavor is mostly the malts with some earthy tones and spices as well. Hint of the citrus hops on the finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
DATE: January 5, 2016... OCCASION: returning from a cold night at LVR, the mood is right for a winter warmer... GLASSWARE: Corsendonk tulip pokal... a swirling storm of small bubbles rush through the glass and create a dense snow pack of white, clumpy head... body itself is copper and clear--appreciable at a distance... immediate peppercorn, earthy seed, melon, resin, vanilla, and toasted malts--enticing and warming, with a kick of attitude... a flowery earthiness also joins the fray, as does toffee... buttery, slightly oily, and active at the tongue--hops are present, but this medium-bodied beer doesn’t really rest any one specific place... a mild finish that exits without much fanfare... no insult, but not a standout in this regard... toffee, caramel; light flower, pepper, spicy herbs, a bit of lemon, and maybe some honey--enough to set up shop and sip for study or slam with abandon... as the glass drains, serious snow smears down its side... I see this not as not on par with other NB work, but a relatively high ceiling has done this to me... solid, especially as part of a winter mix, and the second and third bottles will not go to waste...serviceable, but not in the upper echelon of winter beers...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampler at New Belgium Asheville. Pours light brown with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice floral notes on the tongue. Nice hop flavor on the tongue with some solid malt going on. Finished clean. Nice example of style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bready malty base with a bit of hop balance. Some slight spice, and an almost lagerish hop funk. Has a good amount of body and overall a descent winter beer, but the lagerish funk hops get to me the more I drink.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bright citrus notes and caramel through the aroma, pours a clear amber with no head. Slightly sweet caramel notes, with some biscuit mixed in as well. Earthy hops, with very little bitterness. A solid and drinkable winter ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Originally rated on 1/10/08. I am not normally a big fan of winter brews, but the N.B. 2 below is pretty decent. Smiliar to an IPA with its hops, slightly dry and citrus hints. pours a nice copper color with a good head which lasts until the end.

Very rich, spicy, caramel flavor. Great for taking home and relaxing. Something to sip on after dinner
