3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Clear brown color with a small beige head. Toasty and slightly nutty malt aroma with a touch of scorched raisin. Dry and toasty malt flavor with lots of bread and burnt fruit. Lighter feel but a little alcohol underlying. Standard carbonation. Well done for a filtered, non-bottle-conditioned dubbel but lacks the soul of the real thing. Quite a deal though and I can see going for this again when I want a few dubbels without breaking the bank. I’d take this over their trippel any day.

12 ounce bottle poured to tulip glass
Sight: pours dark reddish brown, dark amber, clear, small tan foam
Smell: fragrant aroma of grains

PAr for style. Toasty finish. A little burnt tasting on the back end but light chochlate notes blend nicely. shawnmurphy (609) - Plattsburgh, New York, USA - OCT 19, 2017
12-ounce bottle pours clear deep burgundy with a spritz of tan head and lacing. Aroma: brown sugar, cherries, dark dried fruits. Flavor: dates, figs, cherries, plums, caramelized brown sugar, hazelnuts. Mouthfeel: medium-bodied, creamy, yet with a dry finish. Bill Becker (1779) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 17, 2017
From Dec 2005
Poured from bottle(room temp) a deep amber gold with a very small head that dissipated slowly leaving a fine solid layerand lots of nice lacing.
The smell is very fruity with notes of banana, plum, and a clove aroma as well. Very inviting!
The taste is a wonderful blend of the notes I mentioned in the smell all working together with sweet malt and a nice yeasty infusion that makes it so darn drinkable.
This is a very nice Belgian style dubbel that I can thoroughly recommend! TheLouse8 (47) - Nebraska, USA - OCT 3, 2017

A nice double. Strong Belgian yeast notes. Very malty and sweet. Notes of Carmel and banana. A light touch of hops in the finish.

Pours brown from the bottle and leaves a thick, creamy head. Aroma is roasted nuts, toast, hints of chocolate, cherry, a bit of spice — mostly clove. Taste is bitter, a touch sour, plenty of spice. A bit harsh. A touch of toffee sweetness to round this one out would raise it to the next level, but this is lacking entirely, leaving it feeling unrounded in places. Body is medium with a prickly carbonation. Okay, but not great. hershiser2 (3667) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUL 7, 2017
Bottle from Total Wine, South Richmond. Pours clear brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is similar to an unspiced nut bread. Nothing special but inoffensive. Flavor is caramel, but not strong caramel. Browning leaves, kinda nutty. It reminds me more of a more brown ale than anything. It’s fine, but top 50 in the style? Really? camillegege (10) - Cape town, SOUTH AFRICA - JUN 5, 2017
It was nice trying this one, I liked its yeasty taste and its amber red appearance. However, we do not see this old fashion bottle a lot. Skrymir (5) - - APR 26, 2017 does not count
Love this beer when I can find it locally. Good bready, yeasty taste. Rich mouthfeel.
