Ale brewed with Lemon Peel and infused with Espresso
Giddy Up is a delicious juxtaposition of coffee, sustainably grown in Brazil and espresso-roasted locally, pressed into an ale with the deep color of a copper cowboy kettle. First whiff is full of sweeet caramel, toffee, latte. Then, a hint of lemon scone flavor from the addition of lemon peel. Body is creamy, resonant of espresso, yet the finish is bright, even a bit frisky. An ale to git along with...

12 oz bottle pours golden with a off white head. Aroma and taste of citrus and coffee.

Mahogany color with a modest taupe colored head. Coffee to light veggie scents. Full coffee flavors. Hints of light ancho chilies. While I drink coffee, I’m not a fanatic…so this doesn’t do that much form me. 1/14

Bottle drunk Winter 2013
Sort of a beige, lime-golden thing, with deeper copper tints and a wispy, off-white head showing poor retention.
Crushed coffee beans and light acidity, I suppose you might call it lemony, with sparse, biscuity malts, soda water and lighter vanilla notes....
Coffee in the mouth, stale, dry and turning lightly lactic/sour in the presence of the lemony acidity. Just a pinch of sweetness from the malt, certainly not enough to build a decent body or balance. Fizzy carbonation. Pretty bad stuff, unsurprisingly.

This is a lighter beer with a bit of lemon peel and it is infused with espresso that is a real bang.

Dark amber with off white head. Nice, strong coffee aroma. Same in the flavor. Just a touch of citrus.

Bought this as part of a mixed pack on my hunting trip last year. I don’t really like coffee or lemon, so this score is about where you’d expect from me, maybe even a little high, as you can easily discern both flavors. Forgot the bottle opener, so I had to use the deer’s brow tine to open the bottles. Gotta find something when you’re thirsty!

12oz bottle. Medium beige head atop crystal clear copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, coffee, light toffee. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, some coffee, light lemon, chocolate. Light-medium body, light stickiness.

Have I mentioned that most of New Belgium’s beers taste like Fat Tire except for many of the Lips of Faith series?

Wow, this is actually pretty good. Clear mahogany brown pour with very faint diminishing offwhite head. Nose smells of chestnuts and espresso beans. Big malty/nutty flavor with more toffee and caramel. I don’t find the lemon peel other than perhaps a slight bitterness of zest. The coffee is very remote, and in my opinion, the way it should be. A slight bit metallic and vegetal though. Decent job on this.

Man, this is a pretty good beer. Dark with a nice espresso kick and a twist of lemon. There’s very little bitterness, just enough to know you’re drinking beer. This is a fine one.
