clear gold with a small white head. tangy noble hop aroma. bitter flavor with some saltiness and rye. highly hopped. a bit astringent. light bodied. extremely dry. not really characteristics i prefer in this style. nuplastikk (6508) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 31, 2013
22oz bomber courtesy of Anndiesel. Filtered orange-yellow body. Soapy white head laces the glass. Really well done Heller Bock, no cheap tones often found in authentic versions. Doughy golden malt, nice incorporated fruity yeast tones. Not really so hoppy, more so than a classical European example I suppose. A little too clean and mineral dry, something most NB beers suffer from. BeerandBlues2 (14018) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle @ home. Pours clear golden orange with a medium to small, frothy white head with large bubbles receding to the glass edge, short retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is earthy and spicy rye malt, grain and meal malt notes with earthy and spicy Noble hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is moderate spicy rye malt balanced with spicy and earthy hops, medium bitterness with complimentary sweet malt, clean fermentation with a dry and spicy finish. Medium body and carbonation, light alcohol warmth, and no creaminess or astringency. kaser (6429) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Draft at Todd English pub in Vegas. Orange clear pour with foamy sticky head. Sweet taste. A little too sweet. Decent hops and floral. Not bad Ernest (7886) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grass, resin, herbs).
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
A very Americanized (and simple) hop nose, but thankfully no off notes. Good balance in the mouth too. Overall much better than anyone could expect...it isn’t husky, soapy, or loaded with DMS.

Draft. Very good lager with lots if assertive hops. Refreshing but with lots of flavor. Good choice. Steve_0 (3818) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 29, 2013
Bottle at the parentals with my pops. Pour is beautifully golden orange with a small white head and great lacing. Sweet smell, almost caramelly, but definintely carries that spicy german hop charactersitc - biscuit, crackers, somewhat grassy, snappy, and sweet. Taste is spicy, hoppy, somewhat earthy, sweet grain, grassy, a touch metallic - though very faint - biscuity, and crackers with a lightly spicy/bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Nice! riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 29, 2013
