Bottle. Nice, bright golden pour, crystal clear and still, yet presenting a bountiful head of pure-white foam. The aroma is sharp and seductive, hinting at a nicely hopped brew. Indeed, this drinks like a super-powered version of the best, hoppiest pilsners of southern Germany and the Czech republic, but with an added plus of a big heavy mouthfeel. Good, good stuff, an excellent lager made for the hop-snobs. (#5067, 6/23/2013) mnurda (1284) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - APR 23, 2013
On tap at Todd English pub in Las Vegas. Loved the lightness of this beer. Combined with the hops this was one of the best beers I have had in recent memory

Bottled, clear golden with fluffy white foam, aroma is steely hops, great bitter marshmallow and lemon flavors, really nice beer krumbum (1109) - truckee, California, USA - MAY 2, 2013
light invigorating hop smell that woke my salivary glands like one of pavlovís dogs. A clear strong gold appearance like a dehydrated straight edge kid taking a piss test. Taste was delicious floral rye, hop start. A clean transitional middle to a delicious gentle malt yeast coating on my lounge as the liquid disappeared. Palate left slightly coated but refreshed ready for another sip. This actually sit right next to the Kick and Clutch as my favorite New Belgium Beers. dwyerpg (6076) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 18, 2013
This was good. The hops are more in the body than in the aroma, but itís great in that they somewhat overpower the strong bock flavor I donít usually like in heller bocks. Nice.

22 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, best before 6/16/2013. Pours slightly cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, pine, grass, floral, pepper, biscuit, toast, spicy rye, light caramel, and herbal earthiness. Very nice and unique aromas with good balance and complexity of earthy/spicy hops and malt notes. Taste of grapefruit, pine, floral, grass, biscuit, spicy rye, pepper, light caramel, toast, and herbal earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pine, floral, grass, biscuit, toast, spicy rye, pepper, light caramel, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of spicy/earthy hops and malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly creamy and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent hoppy maibock style. Very nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. Clear golden color with a nice white head. Aroma is hoppy with a slightly musty hayloft scent. Flavor is hoppy with a clean but slightly sweet finish. Nice malt body, very tasty twist on the German lager. Very drinkable while remaining rather tasty.

This is very enjoyable hoppy lager. It was on special at my local bottle shop. I went back for more after drinking the first bottle, but they were sold out. I hope New Belgian makes this again.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2013 Thick foamy white head. Lacing. Lots of hops from aroma all the way through after taste. Smooth and drinkable for how hoppy it is. Lighter body than an ipa. Pretty good. Delicious. Thanks Seymour. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - NOV 18, 2013

Honey with a finger of light cream, loose foam. Initial smell is lemongrass, vitamin, lemongrass again, shortbread, more lemon - my wife would love the nose here. Flavor is biscuit, butter, hints of hibiscus and a little bit of cornbread. Medium bodied and low carb with a dry finish. Iím really surprised by this beer, not really like a bock to me, not really hoppy to me - but punches most keys for me. Really a nice, pleasant beer.
