Golden/light amber. Quickly dying head. Unspectacular nose of citrsy hops, slight yeast funk and hint of malt. Medium bodied. Light flavors of lemony hops, slight acidity, clean pale malt profile and slight fruitiness. Crisp, balanced and quaffable but doesn't have that saison funk to it. Beer pours hazy orange hue with a white head that very rapidly completetly dissipates. Aroma is fruity with a little yeast. Flavor is citric spicy but a bit on the flat side. Decent, but a bit disappointing. mreeves (276) - Sammamish, Washington, USA - FEB 8, 2004
Orange color, small to no head, minimal lacing. Could use a bit more carbonation. Overall, taste is too thin and watery. Something seems to be missing. Not bad, but not great. dankitydancer (58) - Arizona, USA - FEB 1, 2004

Haven't tried this one before, I'm not sure I've seen it around here until the other day. The descrption of "lemon verbena" in it caused some apprehension before picking it up, but I'm glad I did. Very nice coloration; full complement of floaties; tastes tangy; my first impression was that it was pretty odd, but it grew on me rapidly; a complexity of flavors, alot of stuff going on with the tounge; oily, with a slightly crisp finish. I like this one, quite different, not too much lemon flavor IMO; clean & refreashing. This would be nice when the weather warms up. One of the better New Belgians.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2004 Bottle: A large white bubbly froth sits atop a cloudy orangish hued glass of goodness. Very interesting yeasty flavor, with some lemony/peppery/floral accents. Maybe a bit of cloves thrown in. Very sticky... flavor is retained for some time after finishing. I detect some other spices as well... hard to put my finger/tongue on it. Very enjoyable.BierBauch (784) - Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA - DEC 26, 2003
This ale poured a cloudy deep orange color with lots of scary looking floaties resembling of the milky way. Head was loose and settled quickly. Aroma is complex, grainy malts, lemon citrus, funky yeast and bread dough and spices all rolled into one. Has a light and crisp mouthfeel that is lively and playful. Flavor is citrusy and slightly tart. Yeast also contributes to a complex flavor. Overall a very interesting and pleasurable ale. Thanks to Sham for this one. First out of the gate from belgianhomebrew's Secret Santa package - oh, yeah. Yeasty and sweet nose and super rocky head billow forth to greet you. This is a nice melding of sweet and spicy flavors, neither taking firm control of the taste, and the body is nice and supple, not too thick (yet it threatens) - yet, there is no element of danger here as in the great saisons, no hint of herbal madness stalking you and about to pounce when you aren't looking. Solid and well-constructed - I like it. As it warms it is starting to get sweet like the dupont saison series, I think.... Reid (2541) - Salem, Oregon, USA - NOV 15, 2003
Nice appearance in my opinion, nice off- orange hue topped by a small delicate head..that dissapates to a nice lace ..this beer is pleasantlly hazy.
mm the aroma is strange yet intrigueing..i smell the malts and lemon but also some spiciness..nice though.
This beer has an odd taste also but i like it..it tastes a wee bit at the start like a triple..but soon loses that and becomes a robust lager..its quite crisp very odd but it draws me in
i think i can even detect some oats in this
Fells great in the mouth a taste adventure.
Nice drinkable spring ale..odd but I will have another for sure.

Color is a cloud of peachy orange, kinda murky with lots of yeasty chunks floating around adding to the murk. Small dirty whitish head that fades to a thin ring and lace is fast dripping strings. Smell barely has anything to it, just light notions of citrus and muskyness like a damp basement. Taste is mild in tone, super dulled citrus of mango and old bananas and peaches. Malt laden chewyness and smoothness with touches of mild spice and a dryish finish lending sweet bread and honey. Feel is smooth and lighter then medium in body with a nice finish thats quite subtle and complex in effects of its drying. A nice drinker, smooth and mellow with a relaxing quality throughout.
