3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice orange-amber color, a little cloudy,. Interesting sweet and prune, old ale kinda aroma. Thick mouthfeel, strong alcohol as well as esters and phenols. Tastes a lot like a homebrew fermented too warm. Plenty of juicy fruit flavor and spice -clove - in the finish. I’d like to age a bottle for a couple of years. It could be so much better, but still, not bad.
draft sampler and not really sure what this was suppose to be. abt/quad ok but its so mild in all respects but I understand that for new Belgium. mild nose and flavor. stone fruit in the middle. smallish alcohol burn towards the end. nothing outstanding about this one. luttonm (6972) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 24, 2016
SIBF 2016, Seattle. Soft brown. Banana ester. Slightly boozy. Soft leather. Not very complex, a little booze. Not fantastic. Dogbrick (14326) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 31, 2016
Sample at Bodega during the "Beer Romance w/ New Belgium Brewer" event on 07/23/2016. The beer is a hazy brownish-orange color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily to a wispy film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of dark cherries, yeast and malt. The finish is figs, cherries and earthy yeast. Decent overall. HourGlass13 (1101) - North Carolina, USA - JUL 11, 2016
Pours a dark amber color with a thick white head. Aroma is caramel, booze, cherry, malt, candy, spice, date, figs, plum, toffee. Taste is cherry and candied beans, plum, fig sweetness, warm spices, and plenty of booze. You feel the burn with this one. Very interesting beer, good, but you wouldn’t want a lot of it. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 12, 2016

Poured a lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was of caramel, booze and earthy hops. Flavor similar, too sweet, too bitter, too boozy. douglas88 (9797) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 14, 2015
Listed as Barrel Aged, but I suspect this is the proper rating. Anyway, on tap at the 2015 Holiday Ale Fest. A cloudy brown red color with a large white head. A big malty berry nose. The flavor is cherries, yeasty, vanilla, some heat and vanilla. Solid. BeerdedDave (2005) - Beckley, USA - AUG 7, 2015
