Bottle. Sexy reddish-brown color, a bit of a thin tan head. Equally seductive aroma of tobacco and cherries. This drinks with an interesting character ... funny, I just now look at the commercial description and these guys nailed it! How do you pick out "leather" in a beer without making it sound gross? This is an amazingly complex and interesting beer. Well done! (#4979, 4/10/2013) bearislandbeer (15) - - DEC 20, 2014
It was all I could do not to open this from my cellar, but thankfully I made it 6 months and was able to do it. The flavors achieved and brilliance of the odd parings of them were wonderful. The aroma is reminiscent of a smokier sour, but the taste is earthy, subtle cherry and coffee with a very smooth lasting finish. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Draft at Jerry’s. Murky amber with big, creamy, tan head, good legs / Somewhat peculiar, hot nose of paint thinner (alcohol), candied fruit bread, oak?, toffee / Medium to full body, moderately sweet & syrupy, some chewiness, good hop balance and bitterness on the finish / Complex flavors of nut, caramel, fig, date, black cherry, orange peel, chocolate / A quad, a barleywine . . . ., it’s good. krumbum (1109) - truckee, California, USA - JUL 28, 2013
Dark brown beer that smells rich, sweet, malty and nutty. The taste comes on rich and nutty with a slight rich fig fruitiness, After taste of cherries. good and strong. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - MAR 9, 2013
A dessert quad? Strong cherry aroma in the frothy ruby brown pour. Strong cherry flavor as well, with a good malty base. Not very carbonated. Cherry lingers afterwards. Hides its ABV well. This is the cherry bomb of Belgians!

Cloudy copper with a big foamy caramel head. Abundant carbonation holds the head. The.flavor is too compiles to describe and I don’t like using food reference to describe anyway. All that matters is its better than the last 5 quads I can remember I had. Dang! This beer has so much carbonation it replenished the head. That’s awesome... haven’t seen a beer that does that before. This beer is smooth, complex and seems sessionable though it isn’t. snoworsummer (5917) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Tap at New Belgium Hub. Very complex flavor. Sweet, rich, roasted flavor. Full bodied. Smells like dates and figs. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 21, 2013
22oz bottle, shared by tmoney99. Dates and cherries in the aroma. Very nice, rich and fruity. Coffee not noticeable in the nose, but it is in the flavor, really nice with the dark fruit, works well with the flavor. Hazy dark red / brown color. Good thin khaki head, good lace. Nice banana. Bigger body. Good smooth lighter carbonation. More dry in the finish. Sweeter taste, lightly tart, good light bitterness. Hint of belgian spice, not too sweet, candy sugar is in check here. Alcohol doesn’t even cross my mind. Impressively smooth and drinkable for a quad. A little creamy, even. Great quad. I really dig it. Appreciate the creativity, and the additions work well. allfreej (556) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 21, 2013
Bottled. Poured into a large snifter.
Dark copper pour with a fine tan head, which dissipated quickly, though a fair amount of lace remained on the surface and the glass.
Nose is caramel malt, cherry, dates. Mot getting any coffee. A hint of alcohol.
Flavor is a little boozy, cherries, cherry stone bitterness to the finish. A hint of almond in the end. A nice dry finish.
Medium mouthfeel with a fair amount of carbonation.
I really enjoyed this one. I think New Belgium is to be commended on their inventiveness with the Lips of Faith series. This marks my 500th review!
