COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pure rock fury meets Belgian-style brewed folly in this collaboration with Maryland hard-rockers, Clutch. A pronounced bass line of dark chocolate, coffee and black malts bridge the sourness of our dark wood ale for a fluid riff.

22 ounce bottle best by date of May 6, 2018. Served in a Great Lakes Brewing snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black wtih about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit/berries, coffee and some earthiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of tart berries, wood and a bit of green apple flavors. Not a big amount of sourness, but enough to know that its a sour/tart ale. Mouthfeel/body is medium, its creamy and coating with a decent amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good sour stout, I enjoyed it. Certainly worth trying, I wouldnt mind having it again sometime! $16.99 a bottle.

Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of malts, coffee and smoke. The taste was similar to the aroma with more malts, coffee, sugar, smoke and wood. It was slightly tart and a little sweet. Different than what I expected.

Best before May 6th 2018. Black liquid, 1 finger head of tan foam, good retention and nice lacing. A bit sour to the smell initially, I get roasted malt and chocolate beneath. Holding the glass a bit further away, yeah, I smell some coffee notes. Tastes of tart chocolate with a side order of roasted malt. Every once in a while I can taste some coffee but its fleeting. Medium body and carbonation. I cant shake the feeling that it reminds me of other Brewerys mistakes. It IS drinkable though.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance The beer is served a brownish-red color with a one finger head of off-white foam. The head has a light retention fading over time to leave just wisps of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell The aroma of the brew is interestingly strongest of a chocolate smell mixed with a tart fruity aroma cherry, raisin as well as apples. Along with these smells comes some notes of vinegar and some yeasty smells as well as a little bit of a char smell and a bit of smoke. Taste-The taste begins with some sweeter dark fruits flavors of cherry and raisin as well as some light flavors of an earthy nature. While the tartness is very light upfront, it does grow stronger as the taste advances with a mix of tart green apple and cherry as well as a bit of vinegar coming to the tongue. The sourness never gets too potent but remains at a moderate level (for a sour that is). Toward the end charred wood flavors as well as a bit of an herbal hop come to the tongue and leave one with a rather easy going fruited sour taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel The body of the brew is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the mild sour tastes mixed with the fruity and light chocolate flavors the feel is actually pretty nice and creates a fairly easy sipping sour. Overall Certainly not a very overpowering sour, which I rather like. It has the characteristic dark fruit tastes but with some added chocolate and roast which give it a nice dimension. While not a classic take, I actually rather like it and find it very approachable.

Sample at the Asheville brewery. The beer is a brown-black color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of coffee, fruit, yeast and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, coffee, black cherry and yeast. The finish is smoked malt and mildly tart fruit. Above average overall.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7161) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2016
Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was faint with a bit of toastiness, malted milk, cherry and berry. The flavor was sharp tart red wine, malted milk, and wood. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Ok
