On tap at UnionAle, santa barbara. Walnut color that was too dark to see through. Head was about an eighth inch high and eggshell. Smells like cinnamon and gingerbread. Flavors of gingerbread, nutmeg and cinnamon. Finish is clean with a bit of cayenne heat. Pretty great but not for every day.

Picked up a single 22-oz bomber from The Coffee Grounds in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear color brown colored brew with a quick dissipating light tan head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of chocoalte malt, a hint of pepper, herbal spices and a touch of floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of chocoalte and mild peppers with a touch of basement cellar with smoke. Bottle sample tasted at BBF Lab Madrid 2016 on the 02/07/2016. Dark amber, almost brown, colour with a lacing medium beige head. Aroma of cinnammon, mole and other spices. Great chile and cinnamon flavor. Smooth for the ABV. A contender for the crown established by Stone Xocoveza

Not radically dissimilar to e.g. Prairie Artisan’s Christmas Bomb!, in that it has a decently integrated chilli spice, but the thinner body and lighter chocolate flavours don’t seem to work quite as well. Certainly I’m not getting the impression of Mexican hot chocolate or mole (molé? my research indicates no) sauce the way I did with Christmas Bomb! Poured from bomber into snifter. Pours a dark brown you can just barely see through with an almost white head; head dissipates but never goes away. Aroma is like Mexican hot chocolate - cocoa with sweet/spicy pepper notes. Taste - cocoa, slight spice that lingers throughout the finish, just enough to encourage another drink. 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark mahogany brown color with a reddish hue and topped by a small layer of beige colored foam that settles slowly to a thin film and leaving patches of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of cocoa powder, cinnamon, and chili pepper spices with an underlying tone of earthy roast, and toasted caramel and toffee sweetness. The peppers are quite prevalent in the nose, but come across more as spice as opposed to whole peppers. The flavor follows with the dark cocoa and toasted caramel and toffee malts showing a nice sweetness up front and then washed away by the cinnamon, and chili pepper spices. The peppers add a good amount of spice and a touch of heat through out, while notes of vanilla act to balance things out. Medium bodied and fairly smooth with moderate carbonation that leads to a lingering spicy pepper finish with a touch of heat. This is a solid and well made spiced Porter. Tasty stuff.
