Draught at Sycamore just prior to barley wine night. The oddest of the Lips of Faith. Malty and sweet, but also chocked up with cloves and various X-Mas ale spices. UPDATED: MAR 21, 2009 Draught, at the upstairs bar&grill of the Crow’s Nest in Santa Cruz. Pours dark brown/black with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is banana, clove, grain, spices, and bit of alcohol. Flavor is the same elements, somewhat sweet. This is quite good on the whole---I had no real idea what a strong dunkelweizen would come out as, but it’s got a nice strong, doppelbock-ish malt quality along with the usual dunkelweizen flavors, and blends it all nicely. carruthm (1401) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 11, 2009

choice city. Extrm dark brown. Huge wheat heavy clove smell and flavor - creamy toasted wheat and spiced banana. Reminded of Aventinus - rich, sweet, syrupy, malt heavy, zero to no hop bitterness. Rich and tangy finish.

Black body with a decent brown top. Nose full of cloves and some banana. Quite phenolic. Clove dominates, chocolate banana rounds it out. Some sour banana on finish. Intriguing for the style as you definitely feel the alcohol warmth on the finish. A high-octane, winter warmer-styled dunkelweiss. A nice, seasonal rendition of the style.
