Into New Belgium glass. Deep, deep brown with a ruby hint in the light. Giant, 2" tan head, classic weissbier indentations forming as it settles. Aroma is a delicious frozen banana, dipped in chocolate and nuts (yes, it would make George Bluth proud). A bit of alcohol on a deep inhalation. Tastes like ice cream, bananas, chocolate. Heat hits the back of the throat on a big swallow, and it momentarily straddles the line between dunkelweiss and doppelbock (not surprising, given the alcohol content). Never had this much chocolate in a weissbier. Finish is banana giving way to a lot of roastiness. Mouthfeel is perfectly balanced. I want to pair this with a banana split or Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey. Awesome stuff. Love Lips of Faith, love New Belgium. dwyerpg (6378) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 20, 2011
This is, with little doubt, the best dunkelweiss I’ve had. It has banana in both the aroma and flavor, but not overpowering or bad in any way. Taste is a bit sweet, but very good and doesn’t seem that strong. Excellent. taffy6578 (1) - Goose Creek, South Carolina, USA - MAR 25, 2011 does not count
Best beer I’d never heard of. Often, I’ve found unusual beers to be too strong or too bitter for my taste, but this one wiped out the others at a recent beer sampling, and I went home with a growler of it. I finally know the meaning of the phrase "Dessert beer," which I believe this to be. Too sweet to go with a main dish, but exceptional at any other time. Has a herby-sour smell that is intriguingly curious in a pleasant way. Rose-amber in color with a clear complexion. Head was pretty frothy, but didn’t last long (probably due to the high alcohol content). Taste is as intriguing as the smell!!! Very beautiful complexity to the taste!! I give it two tongues up!!!! Medium-sweet flavor with a sort of herby (possibly ginger... among other things) flavor. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation is present, with an outstanding finish..... long finish that superbly carries the aromas and flavors. I wish to repeat this beer! Cybercat (6020) - Georgia, USA - APR 2, 2011
Aroma is rich & fruity (sorry about that, but it’s true!), mainly banana with tones of wheat and yeast and a strong hint of malt. It pours a dark, warm, chocolaty brown with a fine-bubbled, pale yellowish tan head. Mouth-filling flavor is malty, wheaty and yeasty with an undertone of banana and a hint of caramel. Thick, smooth, fizzy texture leaves a nice sharp and fairly persistent tingle.

Pours dark brown-amber with a large, pillowy cream colored head. Smells like wheat, bananas and some clove coupled with some roasty malt aromas. Tastes, first, like a (fantastic) standard hefeweizen with banana and clove and moves across the palate into chocolate and peppery flavors. Medium-bodied with a smooth, peppery texture and soft mouth-carbonation, New Belgium Lips of Faith Dunkelweiss finishes with a chocolate maltiness coupled with peppery flavors. arkotramathorn (41) - Eau Claire, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Poured black browned with fluffy tan head. Tastes of roasted nuts and wheat. Nice malty character with the perfect amount of hops will buy again. illidurit (2354) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 1, 2009
On tap at the Parish Publick House in Santa Cruz. Poured into a pint glass. Deep dark brown with a nice ecru head that leaves impressive lacing. Aroma is bruised apples, banana pith, clove, pepper, vanilla, and a hint of bubblegum. Great smell. Taste is dark wheat bread crust with an even banana sweetness and accents of apple and spices. I would have guessed there was much less alcohol in this beer. Really delicious and drinkable. Up there with La Folie as one of the very best NB beers. mmmbeer (1428) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 27, 2011
Bomber into a shaker it went- poured a transparent darkened brown with tints of light black and dirty maroon. Faded tan ring around the glass with several frog eyes upon the liquid surface, light carbonation. Aroma of bananas, cloves, roasted wheat, and that beautiful black haired temptation that showed me her amazing chest long ago. Hits the mouth with a wide and even body, the malt is pure ecstasy laced with sin and lust, cloves and banana are easily apparent in the middle as she shakes her ass in your face, finish is cloying to the palate, tonsils, and soul. In a time of douchebags by the dozen, jizzing in your pants, overly hyped breweries with it’s limited fare that sell tickets just to attend for $150 a pop after market, and a stick puppet for a president (fucking told ya!), this brew hits it. And hits it hard. Leaving a trail of narcissistic, 2 oz. spitting beerpayners it it’s perditional wake, as the true beer lovers of the world march against the nouveau machine and it’s newly created, foolishly and blindly led breed.
Now that we got that taken care of- Jack Daniel’s if ya please... docsteigs (542) - Texas, USA - MAR 28, 2011
Excellent dunkel. Aromas is German yeasty with hints of wheat and dark malt; taste is clean, complex, with some fig and raison notes; just an excellent dunkel weiss.
