22oz bottle into an Andechs weizen glass.
Pours with a tawny, amber-cola body that sports a healthy dose of carbonation. Attractive head sits as a crown of khaki bubbles up top, retaining well and leaving a few patches of lace behind. Creamy weizenbock- like aroma with vanilla and German yeast esters of bubblegum and banana.
Very flavorful beer, with floral hops and a big malt presence that coats the palate with wheat-y vanilla, banana, and clove. Alcohol lurks in the background, adding a spicy semi-heat to the finish. Mouthfeel is hefty, but not overbearing to the tongue. Smooth carbonation makes for a smoother finish. One of New Belgium’s better LoF releases, and a great hybridization of the Weizenbock/Dunkelweizen style
Bottle drunk Fall 2012 maybe?, somewhere around then.alexsdad06 (10486) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAY 3, 2015
Lightly hazy, amber-graham cracker colored body topped by a waxen-beige head of moderate retention.
Honey, caramel, banana and vanilla cake icing are dried out by plentiful wheat and other biscuity grains. Very light milk chocolate notes, with stronger apple esters on the end as well. Pretty low on the clove, thankfully. No alcohol or flaw.
Fairly soft, wheat-laden texture with graham cracker and caramel notes balancing the white pepper and banana. Not an ester bomb and it’s also got good attenuation and a moderately engaging carbonation. Pretty good stuff, very atypical of NB, though this is before things really went to shit, I think.
22 oz. bottle from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a larger, foamy beige head. The aroma and flavor had banana, clove, caramel malts, chocolate, sweet bread, lightly toasted, a mild nutty character, hints of brown sugar and spices. Medium bodied. Decent beer. Clear, deep brown, with a tight, tall, tan head.
Dark wheat, chocolate, clove aroma.
Taste is slightly spicy, chocolate/old banana.....clove, dark fruit....bubblegum.
Sweet, earthy...a little too much on the clove.

Rated on 4-12-2011. This bottled beer pours a medium sized smooth beige head with a short retention, transparent reddish brown body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, suggestion of chocolate, sweet, bananas, clove, and lightly peppery. The taste is sweet, caramel malt, suggestion of chocolate, pepper, bananas, and clove. The mouthfeel is tingly and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable even at 9%ABV. It has a very good flavor, worth trying and a beer I would drink again. Pours clear brown with a tan head. Smells are sweet with toffee and caramel. Taste is wheat, spicy and some Hubba bubba? Nice beer.

Bottle from Pacific Liquor: The liquid poured dark leather brown and created a huge monstrous foam head. As for the aroma, my nose is met with a strong scent of banana bread and a faint smell of caramel in the distant background. Flavor brings about hints of salty and sweetness that stem from the rich base of caramel dark malt that also has a touch of spicy yeast that revive a subtle taste of banana. Solid dunkelweizen at an affordable price. Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Bomber. Not much aroma from this style or how dark it poured. Really malt heavy and sour. kambei70 (1085) - - JAN 13, 2013

From beerlicious iphone app: Aroma is caramel and pepper. Brown clear with rocky tan head. light bittery notes finishing sour. creamy medium body lively carbonation and astringent finish. Jndubbs (120) - Austin, Iowa, USA - DEC 19, 2012
Has an funky, non-offensive, unidentifiable smell. Tastes like your basic coffee chocolate stout. Gets better with each drink. Has a dark chocolate aftertaste.
