Oh my God. It’s not only a reaction for drinking one of Dieu De Ciel’s beers, but a figurative translation of the Montreal brewery’s name. Just ask our brewmaster, he’s in heaven when drinking this collaborative tripel, inspired by Dieu De Ciel’s love of hibiscus and Belgians love of the obscure, hence our addition of tart feijoa fruit. Cheers!

Pours a clear gold from the bottle with thin ring of off-white lacy head that doesn’t really stick. Aroma of Belgian yeast, slight tart sweetness, and a hint of spicy esters. Taste is tart sweetness out of the gate, then all the Belgian flavors come in, spicy esters that prickle your tongue. Nice, interesting.

Smells like beer. Tastes spicy and like feijoa whatever that is.? A bit sour. Actually pretty good. Looks unassuming

Bottle at World of Beer in Land O Lakes. Pours a clear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Aroma is very interesting with citrus and yeast notes plus quite a bit of funk. Flavor has a lot of tartness up front with a touch of sweetness and followed by more tart/sourness in the finish. Mouthfeel is pretty dry with an almost white wine like feel to it.

Brownish golden colored pour. Big off-white head that fades quickly. A ton of lacing left behind however. Rotten fruit aroma with some flowery notes. Taste is a distinctly tropical fruit. Almost pineapple, almost guava. I’ve never had the feijoa fruit, but would assume this is how it tastes. Not very good.

Pours hazy amber with low white head. Aroma of elderflower, citrus, yeast, wheat, light spices. Taste is sweet-sour, lightly funky and odd. Body is medium and sticky with soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours amber with low white head Aromas of sour yeast, hints of caramel, tropical juicy fruits Taste unbalanced. Has too much sournes that is not backed up by maltyness. Ok not more ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity and a little funky, can definitely tell it will be tart. Flavor is tart as expected, some apple flavors. Finishes rather dry. Wife: 3.8

On tap at the brewery, this pours golden orange with a solid ivory head leaving suds lace. The nose has esters, tangerine and funk. Tart tangerine and nectarine with mild yeast funkiness and a crisp finish. Goes down the palate juicy and makes a yummy interpretation of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the brewery. Very sweet and tart, especially for a tripel. Off-putting to some of my buddies as they were expecting something more traditional. Given my penchant for sours, I really enjoyed it.
